[2024] Pierce Signs Extension, Recommits to Indiana Long-Term

(BLOOMINGTON) Indiana University announced today that they have signed a formal agreement with coach @Piercewise1, extending his contract through the 2028 season. The extension contains a substantial increase in base pay for Pierce, along with incentives for athletic performance (including bowl game invitations and conference titles) as well as academic performance. The agreement comes after months of negotiations and some (repeatedly denied) rumors about friction within the athletic department.

"I believe in this university, this organization, and this program," Pierce said in a brief statement after the news was released. "I have a great rapport with this administration, and together I think we can do outstanding things for Indiana football."

The team is coming off its best season to date, going 8-4 with victories over strong programs like Nebraska, Ohio State, and rival Purdue. The incoming recruit class is currently ranked in the top 10 nationally and includes 11 blue-chip recruits, notably 5* OLB prospect Douglas Downey and 4* Elite 11 invitee (and hometown hero) Randall Milan.
