Florida Recruiting Starting Strong

Despite on the Field Set Backs, Florida Continues to Recruit Strong.

The University of Florida opened the season strong with a big win in the swamp against the 15th Ranked, Penn State Nittany Lions. After taking an early season bye, Florida returned on the road against Maryland, where the two teams exchanged blows back and forth until ultimately a pair of missed Field Goals cost the gators the win where they lost 24-20. Returning to the swamp the following week, Kentucky Came to town and blew the breaks off the Gators 42-9. Kentucky Runningback Niuman Williams had himself a day with 202 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. Starting the season 1-2, the Gators very tough stretch continues as the head to Neyland Stadium to take on the Volunteers of Tennessee. The Volunteers have been a very big thorn in the Gators side, outscoring the Gators 83-24 the last two seasons. Brandon Savage have been lighting opponents up with the help of B.J Flash, and look to take on a very young secondary. The Gators have allowed a 94 pass yards  per game , however the Volunteers will be the first pass heavy team that the Gators have played this season. The young Secondary will have a chance to show who they really are against perhaps the best QB in the SEC if not the country. The following few Weeks do not get any easier for a Gator team who are starting 13 freshman, and 3 sophomores, as they will follow up Tennessee with Texas A&M, LSU, Texas and finally in Jacksonville for their rivalry game with Georgia.

Despite the Season so far, and the Season to come, the Gators are staring out strong on the recruiting trail as the Coaching staff have manage to land a pair of Big targets.

5* WR Jonathan Wilson, University Christian, Jacksonville Florida

First and foremost, the most valuable player on the Recruiting board, Jonathan Wilson, a 5* Wide Receiver out of Jacksonville Florida by way of University Christian. Coach Weeze has made the North East Florida City a major recruiting spot for the Gators. The Last couple of cycles, Coach Weeze has landed every major recruit from the 904 area(With the exception of the UF to FSU flip of QB Colt McIntyre). The trend continued as Wilson announced his commitment to Florida over the likes of Texas Tech, Minnesota, West Virginia, Washington and fellow SEC rival South Carolina. Max Howard went to Twitter minutes before the commitment was announced with a simple "We got HIM". Next season, the possession receiver will join Edward Watkins and give Wilson another High Value target to throw to. Wilson after announcing his commitment replied to Howard's Tweet "Trust Bro, they're not done, I'm bringing a BIG friend with me." Florida fans have already gone wild speculating who he could mean.

4* FS Clayton Murphy, North Florida Christian, Tallahassee Florida

The Offense wasn't the only side of the ball that saw a new addition. 4* Safety out of Tallahassee Florida, the North Florida Christian Star will be joining a very small, and very talented safety room. The coaching staff have been completely revamping the DB room. When Coach Weeze arrived three years ago, the defense was a mess. The team as a whole was a mess, but the defense more so. The amount of talented he has infused on the defense side of the ball has been astounding. Murphy will be Joining a team where he has every bit of opportunity to start next season as both starting safety spots are currently being played by seniors who will be leaving at the end of the season.

The future for the Gators seem bright, and the coaching staff has continued their recruiting excellence. With some more talent on the way, we can't wait to see the future stars of the Florida Gators.
