Welcome back to Huskies Insider, your #1 source of NIU Football news. Today we will talk about a Huskies shutout and which players will we have to wait to see in 2025? Coach Ape's List

The Huskies were coming in hot Friday night in Alabama. They felt disrespected by the pollsters after two straight upsets of Power 5 teams and took those frustrations out on a helpless Jacksonville State squad. The Huskies had dual 100+ yard rushers in Jamarco Woods (175 yards) and Shon Woodard (111 yards). A total of 6 players had positive yards for the Hustlin' Huskies for a grand total of 317 yards on the ground. Tsuyoshi Vasquez had a very pedestrian performance 10/15 for 102 yards 1 TD 2 INT and getting sacked 3 times. Two other QBs saw action, Sr Sony Hall completed 1 of 8 attempts for 35 yards, and True Fr Juan Vega went 1 for 2 for 3 yards. Nicky Graveman had 5 catches for 68 yards and the only receiving TD for the Huskies, continuing his nice start to the season.

The real stars was the Husky defense. They help Jacksonville State to a grand total of 119 total yards. The Huskies held JSU to 2.68 yards per attempt in the air, only allowing 9 completions on 25 attempts. Jacksonville State coughed up the ball 5 times in this contest! Their leading rusher only went 8 for 37. Ryan Patmon had a banner day, 3 Solo TKL, 2 Ast. TKL, 3 TFLs, and 1.5 Sacks. Adrian Paradis also had 1.5 Sacks, and in total the Huskies had 7 sacks as a team. True Freshman FS Daniel Kovacs added in an INT to the Huskies cause, another one of Coach Ape's good gets.

After the victory and 3-0 start the Huskies were finally recognized in the poll and have been ranked 18th.

Coach Ape Announces 15 Redshirts

Coach Ape didn't redshirt anyone last year, not feeling it was right to not let people prove themselves to him in his first season. however this season he did recruit a few players who he did tell he'd be asking them to take a redshirt. Here are the 15 he has decided to redshirt.

4* Fr ILB Mario Glenn (C/B)

4*Fr DT Jamie Powroznik (C/B)

3*OG Ralph Morales (C/B-)

3* WR Ryan Hester (C/C+)

3* C David Litzinger (C/B)

3* FB Oscar Brinkley (C/A+)

3* K Renato DeJesus (C/C+)
