Tennessee Redshirts Announced

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Now that we have passed the first 3 weeks with no (knock on wood) serious injuries besides SS Brandon Duffey's sprained knee, it's time to announce which of our favorite players are going to be redshirting this season

QB:

Fr 5* Jake O'Connor - Future QBOTF, #JOC takes a bow and heads to the film room for the rest of the season. 2024 stats: 5/13, 128 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 2 rushes 12 yards

RB:

So 4* Peter Meyers - Last years signee, has not played yet, taking a redshirt to separate classes from Joe Williams and Jose Bandy

Fr 4* David Forsberg - This years signee, way down on the depth chart, easy redshirt candidate.

TE:

So 3* Darrell Foster - Has not played, lack of TE depth means he may see significant future minutes

WR:

Fr 5* Joseph Kleen - While fellow freshman BJ Flash has exploded and forced his way into a starting spot, Kleen is taking a developmental year

😄

Fr 3* David Ventura - A potential, not needed to start. Clear redshirt player

OG:

Fr 5* Charles Le - Highly touted 5 star, but OG is clogged with seniors this year. Might as well use his redshirt before jumping into the starting lineup

OT:

Fr 5* David France - Very tempted to put him in, but might as well save him for more years in the future.

DE:

So 4* Steven Carnahan - The surprising return by Cano and Anderson forced Carnahan to the deep bench. He'll take a RS and try to be on the 2 deep next season.

Fr 4* Armando Medina - Medina had no shot at playing time, clear redshirt player

OLB:

Fr 5* Tee Sweezy - He really had potential to start, but the upside of keeping him an extra year was too much to pass up. Recorded 2 tackles and 1 TFL in garbage time this season.

CB:

Fr 4* Wendell Gallagher - Far down the CB list, future starter.

Fr 3* Robert Carranza - A potential, he's not a guaranteed future starter, but with a 5th year he might be

SS:

Fr 4* Kevin Wells - Will try to pass up Daryl Anderson in the future, but was SS4 this season

K:

Fr 4* Bruce Knight - Is almost guaranteed the job in 2 years, but might as well extend his eligibility
