[2024] NFL Mock Draft, but teams keep prioritizing incorrectly

Recommended Posts

1 - Tennessee Titans

Positions of Least Need: C, FS, OG

OG - Alex Hitchens - Run Blocking - Arkansas

The Titans have four OGs, three of whom, are above a 72 OVR. Why not give them a fifth OG to make them OG City?

2 - Miami Dolphins

Positions of Least Need: CB, ILB, RB

RB - Clayton McGee - Balanced - Florida State

At 97 Speed, RB Gregory Sellers is a speedyboi. You know who is not a speedyboi? Clayton McGee with his B+ Speed. But, he has A+ Carrying while Sellers only has 68. Combine them to create a great two-headed monster. Ignore the fact that the Dolphins do not have an offensive line.

3 - Carolina Panthers

Positions of Least Need: C, DT, OG

DT - Logan Lopez - Balanced - Houston

DT is easily one of the strongest positions for Carolina. Steven Kapf"the"Hammer is a 79 OVR as a 6th yr. Lopez's weak point is his strength. Why not get the Hammer to teach him now to be strong?

4 - New York Giants

Positions of Least Need: CB, DE, QB

QB - Hiram Maronde - Scrambler - UCLA

The Giants need a lot of players, but QB is not one of them this year. Lamar Johnson is a great scrambler at 77 OVR. Under his wing, he has Wilfredo "The pasta boi" Joseph and his 92 Speed. Hiram Maronde would be an excellent pick to bring some competition to this QB corps. This would not be a "Hiram" move to make.

5 - Carolina Panthers

Positions of Least Need: C, DT, OG

C - Rashard Nall - Line Captain - Old Dominion

This is the 2nd Panthers pick within the top 5. They picked up a DT with the 3rd overall pick, so it's time to fill out that offensive line. Hitchens was picked already, so we look towards C. Nall is the best C on the board, so let's go with that. A+ strength means he can workout every day with Kenneth Eggleston (73 OVR) and Franklin Mitchell (65 OVR) in the gym. This would give Carolina a center in 3 of the 4 archetypes. One more to go!

6 - New Orleans Saints

Positions of Least Need: C, DE, OT

DE - Whit Wilson - Balanced - Oklahoma State

With A or A+ in basically every attribute that matters, Whit Wilson is an absolute monster on the d-line. New Orleans already has Brett Mcphail (85 OVR) and Erik Schaefer (79 OVR), but what if they didn't. This is the pick.

7 - Houston Texans

Positions of Least Need: C, FS, RB

RB - Receiving - Richard Bianchi - Hawaii

You may be asking yourself "why would they pick up ANOTHER receiving RB? They already have Hue Khan (77 OVR)." And you are correct. However, Houston have no WRs over 60 OVR and no receiving TEs over 54 OVR. It's clear that their strategy is to just run RBs as receivers. Bianchi it is.

8 - Atlanta Falcons

Positions of Least Need: DE, OLB, SS

DE - Speed Rusher - Ty Bogdanovic - Indiana

Like the IRL Falcons, the SimFalcons are a terrible team in a terrible division. Like the IRL Falcons, the SimFalcons pick 8th in this draft. Unlike the IRL Falcons, this Falcons team have talent at Edge. Ty Bogdanovic would allow the Falcons to play a third DE instead of a DT. This should result in more sacks.

9 - Seattle Seahawks

Positions of Least Need: DE, DT, WR

WR - Speed - Paul Canha - Alabama

The Seahawks have lots of great receivers, but none of them ran track and field in high school. I'm not sure if Canha ran track and field in high school, but he does have A+ speed. Other than that, he's got an A+ in like everything else.

10 - Los Angeles Chargers

Positions of Least Need: CB, OG, QB

CB - Jonathan Parks - Ball Hawk - Ohio

Chargers could really (not) use a QB, but the next best QB is too big of a reach, even for this mock. They have two CBs with insane Man Coverage right now. Parks only has B Man Coverage, but A+ Catching. I think ideally, the other CBs play a tight man, defend the pass, and then Parks secures the INT.

11 - Jacksonville Jaguars

Positions of Least Need: DE, OG, OLB

DE - James McKinnon - Run Stopper - Miami (OH)

The Jaguars really wanted Whit Wilson and Alex Hitchens, but they were already picked. If they could read, they would be really, really upset. So instead, they go for James McKinnon. Jaguars will allow a lot of yards in the air, but none on the ground.

12 - New York Jets

Positions of Least Need: C, OG, OLB

OG - Corey Cabrera - Pass Blocking - San Jose State

Two great guards on this team already in Mcneal (83 OVR) and Mousseau (80 OVR), but nobody who can block for Trahan when he wants to show off his 61 Throw Power and 64 Throw Accuracy. In comes Cabrera and his A+ Strength and B+ Pass Blocking.

13 - New York Jets

Positions of Least Need: C, OG, OLB

OT - J'Mon Wolters - Balanced - Utah

Back-to-back picks here for the Jets. Back-to-back offensive linemen for the Jets. New York front office just realized that B+ Pass Blocking isn't really worth a top 15 pick. They panic and grab J'Mon Wolters who has A- pass blocking. Logan Njoku looks on in shock.

14 - Green Bay Packers

Positions of Least Need: DE, FS, OLB

FS - Kyle Reimold - Run Stopper - Central Michigan

The Packers have collected a Zone Coverage, Ball Hawk, and Man Coverage safety. They do not have a Run Stopper. They will do so here.

15 - Cleveland Browns

Positions of Least Need: FS, ILB, OG

ILB - Kenny Daniel - Run Stopper - Wake Forest

If you Ctrl-F and search for "run" on Cleveland's roster, you get 9 hits. We should try to get that to 10. Daniel has possibly the highest run defense in the class, so this is not only a sensible move, but also a funny one. Cleveland can play Daniel in the middle of the field along with Louis Dell (77 OVR), and Mei Felipe (68 OVR). I think they quite literally will allow 0 rushing yards as long as opposing rushers run straight up the middle and don't cross the line of scrimmage.

16 - Baltimore Ravens

Positions of Least Need: CB, DE, QB

CB - Stansly Alvarez - Man Coverage - LSU

Baltimore have four zone coverage CBs. Their CB corps has an average 65 man coverage. We should try to fix that with Stansly Alvarez who has A+ Man Coverage. Plus he went to high school at Licking Valley High School. When he was in high school, he was named the Licker because he would play such tight man coverage, you could feel his tongue on the back of your neck.

17 - New England Patriots

Positions of Least Need: CB, OG, SS

CB - Chandler McKay - Zone Coverage - Western Michigan

The Patriots also have lots of Zone Coverage CBs. But they go with a different tactic. They want to expand their zones so that they can cover the saturate their coverage on the field and even move into areas out of bounds just in case. Chandler McKay has A Zone Coverage and A Football IQ. He can help turn this passing defense into a passing afense.

18 - Buffalo Bills

Positions of Least Need: OG, SS, WR

WR - Logan Njoku - Route Runner - Kentucky

Let's give Asencio someone else to throw at. Logan Njoku has sat there for long enough. The Bills currently have nobody who except Donald Kelly who can run routes well. So while everyone else is running around like a bunch of kids playing football in their backyard, Njoku will studiously run the exact route they planned him to run. Ascensio will finally have someone not named Jan Summers to throw to.

19 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Positions of Least Need: DE, DT, RB

WR - Trevor Wood - Possession - USC

Let's pretend Taphorn completed more than 53% of passes last year. You know what they really need? A real WR.

20 - Philadelphia Eagles

Positions of Least Need: FS, OT, WR

WR - Sean Plutko - Red Zone Threat - Texas State

It's not a Poole party unless you invite your entire WR corps. Aaron's Poole is really big, so we can fit some more receivers here. A Football IQ, A Catching? What's not to like? What's that? C+ Speed and C Route Running? Oh, but he's got A- Carrying.

21 - Chicago Bears

Positions of Least Need: CB, ILB, OT

ILB - Davis Covey - Coverage - Charlotte

We're going to have to use a familiar reasoning here. The Bears have a Run Stopper, Field General, and Speed ILB. Covey is a Coverage ILB and is still available. Bonus points because he has A Zone Coverage, A+ Man Coverage, B Pass Rush, and A- Run Defense. This man can do anything. He fits in this defense.

22 -  San Francisco 49ers

Positions of Least Need: ILB, OLB, RB

OT - Tony Varvaro - Run Blocking - NIU

The 49ers have a two-headed monster at RB and a four-headed monster (a few heads are kinda dumb and slow) as run blocking OTs. Regardless of if you think they need a fifth head or just replacement heads, Varvaro is the right choice to make that happen with his A Strength and A+ Run Block.

23 - Detroit Lions

Positions of Least Need: OG, TE, DT

OT Francisco Smith - Run Blocking - Washington

The Lions are upset because Varvaro was their perfect pick here. But Francisco Smith is even more perfecter with his A Strength and also A+ Run Block. He will make huge gaping holes for running back [ERROR: Not Found] to run through.

24 - Atlanta Falcons

Positions of Least Need: DE, OLB, RB

OLB - Rasheed Downs - Coverage - Notre Dame

Defensive end was fixed with the 8th pick, so now we turn to OLB. He can fight to the death with Rosania (86 OVR), Gregory (78 OVR), and whoever else technically is an OLB here.

25 - Dallas Cowboys

Positions of Least Need: DT, OT, WR

WR - Nick Jones - Red Zone Threat - Penn State

Dallas have the best WR corps in the world at the moment. Giving Jessie Noel more targets to throw at is a good idea. Right now, Noel throws at anything that moves (30 INT last year), so adding more WRs on the field should, in theory, increase the chances that he throws to another Dallas Cowboys player.

26 - Miami Dolphins

Positions of Least Need: CB, ILB, RB

ILB - Joe Yanda - Speed - Utah State

Super athletic and not very bright. Joe Yanda fits the bill for the Dolphins perfectly with his A+ Speed and C Football IQ. Continue to ignore the fact that the Dolphins do not have an offensive line.

27 - Kansas City Chiefs

Positions of Least Need: DE, OG, OLB

OG - Balanced - Felix Rodriguez - Temple

I'm pretty sure the Chiefs lead the league in most OGs rostered at 8. They will try to keep this record by drafting Felix Rodriguez who brings to the table a ton of athleticism. A+ Speed should allow him to get realllllllllllly far downfield to throw a mean block. Very important if you are blocking for 98 Speed James Carter.

28 - Arizona Cardinals

Positions of Least Need: C, FS, WR

C - Ruben Shazier - Run Blocking - Alabama

The second Alabama player off the board so far, Shazier offers the Cardinals excellent top end speed, a 3-cone drill that would make QWOP jealous, and a wonderful Wonderlic score. He will fit right in with the rest of the centers in Arizona.

29 - Pittsburgh Steelers

Positions of Least Need: DT, OLB, OT

OT - Trevon Ingram - Run Blocking - Buffalo

The Steelers go with BAP among the positions they don't need desperately. Trevon Ingram only had to drive 3.5 hours to go from Buffalo to Pittsburgh thanks to his A- Speed.

30 - Jacksonville Jaguars

Positions of Least Need: DE, OG, OLB

OG - Logan Travis - Pass BLocking - Texas Tech

Jaguars still (don't) need a guard so they pick up Logan Travis. He is fast (A+ Speed), Good at Pass Blocking (A+ Pass Block), and Agile (got his PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner

last summer).

31 - Jacksonville Jaguars

Positions of Least Need: DE, OG, OLB

OLB - Beau Martin - Run Stopper - Alabama

Alabama with a record (maybe) 3rd first round draft pick. A fourth run stopping OLB for the Jags. Why not?

32 - Carolina Panthers

Positions of Least Need: C, DT, OG

QB - Blake Smith - Pocket - North Texas

The Panthers give up on Dekoda Link partway through this round and decide to select Blake Smith. Smith brings a new challenge to this excellent pass blocking o-line with one of the slowest and least agile (Waterfall Project Management Certification) QBs in the class.
