High school football: Velma Jackson vs. Morton

David Castle, right, about to tackle some nobody RB

David Castle, a five-star defensive tackle from Camden, Mississippi, has been a dominant force for Velma Jackson High School. Standing at an imposing 6'3" and weighing 288lbs, Castle's physicality and versatility have been central to his team's success. His experience spans nearly every position on the defensive line, but he particularly excels as a defensive tackle, both as a nose tackle and a pass rusher.

In his junior year, Castle's performance was instrumental in leading Velma Jackson to the State Championship. He recorded an impressive 70 tackles, 20 of which were for a loss, showcasing his ability to disrupt the opponent's offensive rhythm. He also notched 15 sacks, further emphasizing his skill as a formidable pass rusher.

Off the field, Castle is equally impressive. Known for his studious nature, he maintains high academic standards, enrolling exclusively in AP courses as he enters his senior year. His commitment to education reflects his disciplined approach to both sports and academics.

Given his on-field prowess and academic achievements, Castle has drawn interest from several top-tier FBS programs, particularly those known for contending for national championships. Ole Miss, the University of Tennessee - Chattangooga, the University of Tennessee - Knoxville, Louisiana State University (LSU), and the University of Georgia are among the schools keenly interested in recruiting him. These programs are not only football powerhouses but also offer a competitive academic environment, aligning well with Castle's aspirations.

As David Castle prepares for his senior season, his combination of athletic talent, academic dedication, and desire to compete at the highest level make him one of the most coveted defensive tackle recruits in the Southern United States. His future in college football is highly anticipated, with top programs eager to secure his commitment.
