Hempfield football hopes to keep momentum from big win over Penn-Trafford - Sports Illustrated High School News, Analysis and More

Thomas Brausen, a five-star speed rusher defensive end from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, has established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line. Growing up as an Ohio State fan, Brausen has honed his skills to become one of the most formidable defensive players in high school football.

In his junior year, Brausen made a significant mark in Pennsylvania high school football history by setting a new record for the most sacks in a single season. He tallied an astounding 22 sacks, showcasing his ability to penetrate offensive lines with speed and precision. Additionally, he recorded 55 tackles, 30 of which were for a loss, demonstrating his effectiveness in stopping running backs and disrupting option plays.

Brausen's laid-back demeanor off the field contrasts sharply with his aggressive and focused play on the field. Despite his Pennsylvania roots, he has expressed a preference to commit to an FBS program outside the state. His remarkable achievements have attracted attention from several top-tier college programs.

Schools showing keen interest in Brausen include Ohio State University, a childhood favorite, as well as the University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, and the University of Maryland. These programs are known for their strong defensive units and have a track record of developing players for professional careers. Brausen's combination of speed, agility, and tactical understanding of the game makes him a highly coveted recruit for these prestigious programs.

As Brausen prepares for his senior year, his potential as a future collegiate star continues to draw significant attention. His decision on which program to commit to is eagerly anticipated, with top colleges vying for this exceptional defensive talent.
