You asked for it, so here it is – another team talent ranking!

Using upperclassmen and redshirt sophomores as a sample set (because they have the +/- differentiator) and numerical estimates for different letter grades, I ran some regressions to create Overall scores for all players. Then I looked at the average for each team and added an elevator based on the number and quality of players in the top 1,000 nationwide. These rankings are the result. Since my model looks at the entire team and does not take into account the likelihood that a player will play OR the relative value of his position, I’d consider it a more rudimentary model than @tsweezy’s.  But hopefully it provokes some interesting discussions.

In addition to my team ranking (and comparison to tsweezy’s), I also included the number of A- or better players on each roster as well as the number of B or better players under the age of 20 (so, all freshmen and true sophomores). The first column is a good indicator of the current talent level, while the second is more focused on the future. There are 15 players who are counted in both columns because they are already in the A range at 19, but very few teams have more than one (Minnesota has 2, Penn State 3).

There's a lot more I can do by diving into this data, but for now let’s get to the rankings! (Posted as pictures because I'm tired of messing with forum tables, happy to share the chart if anyone wants it).
