Hi everyone,

undefined

I'm almost done putting together an award lit; but one that I recognize that I think would be good for RP opportunity is the Man of The Year Award.

Simply put, nominate a player from your team who is a role model to your team's community and fellow peers on the sidelines, on the field, and off the field. Tell me a story on why they're an inspiration for the community they represent. Please also list a charity connected to your team as well, and how the player perhaps made an impact on that program during the season.

The nominees will be listed tomorrow along with the remaining nominee list. The winner will be announced on Saturday, with a donation of $100 going towards the charity listed in the nomination. Any other community member who wishes to join in contributing a donation are welcome to do so, they can donate any amount that they wish.

The Philadelphia Eagles select Quarterback Aaron Pool to be our nominee for Walter Payton Man of the Year.

In his second season, Aaron Pool struggled with injuries early on, but returned despite adversity to lead the Eagles to the playoffs after the team looked completely lost and hopeless in September. Pool completed over 60% of his passes on his way to 3633 passing yards and 23 touchdowns, while contributing 537 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns through the ground.

In the Community, Pool runs his own charity, Aaron's Pool, which fundraises from the citizens of Philadelphia to bless individuals for every touchdown Aaron scores. This season, Aaron's Pool was able to split their $500k fundraising effort to 29 different persons and organizations, nearly $17.5k to each. Nonprofits which received funding from Aaron's Pool includes the Eagles Autism Foundation, the March of Dimes, the Make a Wish Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House, the Penn State Thon, and Project Home.

Through his perseverance on the field, Aaron has been able to be a shining example to the less fortunate of Philadelphia. Through Aaron's Pool, he has been able to support these groups financially as well as meet many of the fans in the area that believe he can will this team to a win every weekend.

After some deliberation, the Chicago Bears decided to nominate Tight End Jamie Ramirez as their nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

Coming into his 5th season, to say that Ramirez was a huge and pleasant surprise would definitely be an understatement. It's safe to say that he tremendously helped the Chicago offense get back into gear and lead the Bears back into the playoffs -- and atop the NFC North. In a year where the battle of the WRs took center stage for the team, Ramirez pulled through to become the best receiver on our team... as a tight end. He finishes the season with 72 catches on 107 targets (a 67.3% catch rate), 1045 receiving yards (14.51 yards per average), and 9 receiving touchdowns. He has also caught the longest pass for a Chicago Bear with 53 yards. He also was a proficient blocker, with 3 pancakes to his name today.

In addition to his contribution on the field, he has been one of the biggest contributors off the field as well. He has been one of the most active players to be a part of my Bears Care program, being a part of the community outreach on multiple occasions. Not only that, he has also been a huge donator to multiple charities, mostly to those that focus on helping the Hispanic and Latin American communities. One of the charities that he has donated to in the past year includes OU Foundation -- which is the charitable organization of his alma mater University of Oklahoma, Hispanic Heritage Foundation -- a foundation that is destined to empower and encourage Latin American leaders in society, Hispanic Scholarship Fund -- which helps to give Hispanic a chance for higher education, and the National Hispanic Institute -- which helps to serve the needs of the Latin American community. He has even been involved in local organizations, with him being one of the biggest contributors to Casa Central -- the largest Hispanic non-profit organization in the Midwest -- including Chicago.

He has also started his own charity -- that he started with White Sox outfielder Ramon Cadaval Jr. -- called Viva los Chicago! -- which seeks to help empower and strengthen Hispanic communities in the Chicagoland area with a mission to make the city "a place for all".

Although he has a strong presence on the field, Jamie Ramirez's contributions off the field are worth looking out for. With his determination to help the community -- whether it is in Chicago or back home -- and his presence to help improve the Latin American community such as himself, Ramirez shows us that your presence off the field is just as important, as contributing and helping the community should be of the utmost importance. We would like to thank Ramirez for all that he has done for the community.
