BabaYaga's 2023 SimNBA Week 1 Power Poll

Recommended Posts

Since everyone says, “Create Your Own Rankings!”, that is exactly what I did. This weekly Power Poll will be a combination of the eye test, the BabaYaga TTR rating, and what is on paper for each team. This will be mostly based off of results since we are already 5% of the way through the season!

Behold, the Week 1 BabaYaga Power Poll!

32 - Minnesota Timberwolves (down 16)
I'm sorry @Minnow but Minnesota has a point differential of -24.75 points a game this year and you are shooting just 40% from the floor.

31 - Indiana Pacers (up 1)
The only reason that Coach @nemolee.exe and the Pacers moved up a spot is because Minnesota has been downright awful.

30 - Los Angeles Lakers (down 15)
Coach @Curby4 has the worst P/D in the league, getting beat by an average of 29.75 points. But, the numbers say that it won't continue.

29 - New Orleans Pelicans (up 1)
Much like the Pacers, @alexfall862 and the Pelicans move up a spot simply because the bottom of the league is very bad.

28 - OKC Thunder (down 27)
Coach @BabaYaga has one good win on the season but they are the worst defensive and rebounding team in the league by far. They need to change that

27 - Brooklyn Nets (down 14)
The Nets and @Migi are allowed opponents to shoot 53% from the floor...worst in the league. They are going to lose games because of defense.

26 - San Diego Clippers (down 3)
The Clippers are one of the worst offenses in the league and have only made 15 3-pointers so far this year. Not going to cut it.

25 - Orlando Magic (up 5)
Orlando and @SyndaKyt have not been as bad as predicted. They aren't defending the 3-pointer well, but could be a solid team once they do.

24 - Portland Trailblazers (up 5)
Coach @Bingo415 and the Blazers are right in line with Orlando. Teams are shooting 13 more 3-pointers than them so far this year.

23 - Toronto Raptors (down 16)
Coach @Dr_Novella can't be happy with being outscored by 15.75 points a game However, they have run into some buzzsaws.

22 - San Antonio Spurs (down 18)
@smackemz and the Spurs are allowing opponents to shoot 50% from the floor. They are close to clicking though.

21 - Detroit Pistons (up 4)
Coach @Jmjacobs has a long road ahead but the Pistons actually shot better than their opponents this past week.

20 - Denver Nuggets (down 10)
@SandyToez and Denver are a very average team statistically. I think they have a big week in W2 and shoot back up.

19 - Washington Wizards (down 17)
New head coach @Coach123 saw a drop from #2 last week. They are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league and need to fix it.

18 - Miami Heat (down 1)
Coach @kgreene829 has his Miami team in a big of an odd spot. They are a middle of the road shooting team but can't defend the perimeter.

17 - Phoenix Suns (down 1)
Coach @cultur3 is shooting the most 3's in the league by far, but they are in the bottom half of shot percentage. Identity crisis brewing?

16 - Memphis Grizzlies (down 8 )
Head coach @SageBow can't rebound the basketball as they are the 6th worst team in that metric. They'll need to figure something out.

15 - Cleveland Cavaliers (up 5)
@gren has the Cavs looking good. They are struggling to shoot it at times but their rebounding will win games.

14 - Philadelphia 76ers (up 6)
Coach @Rocketcan has a nice squad here on the rise. They are shooting a lot of 3's but only hitting at a 42% rate.

13 - Charlotte Hornets (down 1)
Charlotte is allowing opponents to shoot nearly 50% against them but @thatfunk has been pretty solid offensively.

12 - Houston Rockets (up 15)
@JW1952TX has the Rockets cruising right now on both ends. Let's see if they can keep it going this week.

11 - Sacramento Kings (up 2)
Coach @Spoof has the Kings flowing offensively, but they are getting killed on the boards. They will need to fix that to compete.

10 - Boston Celtics (up 1)
@carmen has the Celtics in a good spot right now. They haven't played the toughest teams yet though so they just bump up one this week.

9 - Dallas Mavericks (up 13)
The Mavericks have been very good on offense as they have scored the most points in the league.  @RobSun08 has done a great job.

8 - Chicago Bulls (up 1)
Coach @Ezaco hasn't been great offensively, but he's been one of the better defensive teams in the league. Let's see how this week is.

7 - Milwaukee Bucks (up 21)
@Vivid has done a very nice job of limiting mistakes so far this season. Let's see how they do this week without facing two of the worst teams.

6 - Golden State Warriors (-)
@Ewade is winning games because they are grabbing a ton of their misses on the offensive end. He might have unlocked something.

5 - New York Knicks (up 21)
@Dash Dustrider isn't doing anything crazy, but just beating teams in ever facet of the game right now. They look very good.

4 - Seattle Supersonics (down 1)
@TuscanSota is doing a great job of not beating himself. Seattle is forcing opponents into mistakes while rarely making any of their own.

3 - Vancouver Sea Pups (up 2)
@subsequent is doing a great job of getting the Pups to fire on all cylinders. They are scoring in bunches.

2 - Utah Jazz (up 19)
@kwheele has the Jazz as the best rebounding team and they are shooting the ball 27 more times a game than their opponents.

1 - Atlanta Hawks (up 18)
@Jieret has the Hawks motoring along. A 39.5 point differential makes them an easy #1 in the power rankings.
