Athens, OH

Another week, another strong performance from the Tulsa defense as they cruise to a 2-0 start to the season on the backs of a 26-2 win over the Ohio Bobcats.  Junior Linebacker Jordan Virgin had himself a day with 5 solo TFLs as part of the Tulsa defenses' stellar 8 TFLs on the day. For the second straight week, the Tulsa defense held their opponent under 150 total yards, but this week added a few turnovers to boot with Freshman Corner Aaron Mays grabbing one early and Junior Free Safety Joe Harris returning one for a defensive touchdown.  Defensive End Freddy Gervacio added 2.5 TFLs, a Sack, and a Safety to the defensive statsheet.

Offensively, Tulsa moderately improved with a close to 300 yard performance from Quarterback Maurquice Ekuale with Running Back Josh Jernigan adding 85 yards and a Touchdown on the ground.  The trio of Ben Bromley, Colt Moreland, and Tony Sherman led the Golden Hurricane with over 50 yards each and accounted for roughly 80% of Ekuale's passing totals on the day.

Tulsa Head Coach acewulf had this to say: "Still some kinks we need to work out offensively, but when you are playing at this level on defense it's hard to complain too much about it.  We made some pretty major changes in the offseason to the defensive side of the ball and it really feels like that we are gelling really well to start the season.  I couldn't be prouder of these guys for this level of improvement."

Stay tuned as Tulsa goes to Charlottesville to take on the Wahoo squad of Virgina this upcoming week!
