[2022] Utah hires Georgetown coach SageBow

Utah hired Georgetown men's basketball coach SageBow as its head coach for the 2023 season on Tuesday. Here's what you need to know:

• Two seasons, and two NIT experiences for the coach of the Big East team. The Hoyas had talented players, but were unable to break into the NCAA tournament both seasons
• Currently, the Utah Utes are fighting for a Sweet 16th seed in the 2022-2023 NCAA tournament, led by graduate assistant Mick Jebow at the helm
• Agreement in place for SageBow to retain Jebow as a permanent fulltime assistant going forward

The news came as a shock to Hoyas fans, who had grown accustomed to SageBow's steady hand and leadership. However, the move marks an exciting new chapter for SageBow and the Utah Utes basketball program. Utah has a rich basketball tradition, with a passionate fan base and a history of success. However, the hire is a complete headscratcher. SageBow's arrival is seen as a horrific selection for the Utes, and fans are not excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.

"This guy is terrible. We should be aiming far higher," said Utes superfan Chief Ute. "SageBow? Never even heard of him. How are we going to compete with the likes of Washington State now. This administration is clearly punching down from what it can be."

As for Georgetown, they will have big shoes to fill in replacing SageBow. He leaves behind a program that is in more or less the same shape than when he arrived, and his impact will not be remembered in the long term. Georgetown fans are already excited for a high powered coach to come in and take this program to the next level.
