SJU Commit 6'8 F Jaye Ajani, Native to New York.

QUEENS, N.Y. – The Red Storm Recruiting has begun. A blue chipper is walking into Carnesecca Arena and he has been going there longer than you can imagine. St. John's is announcing the signing of 4-star Jaye Ajani, 6 foot 8 forward out of NYC and Abraham Lincoln HS in Brooklyn. HC SyndaKyt is excited about the young prospect and obtaining the opportunity to mold and develop him.

"The rationale used when pursuing Ajani was the fact that he immediate addresses the needs we are struggling with this season. He is a rangy, instinctive, and athletic defender that offers offensive flexibility with his valuable skill set in knocking down the three pointer," said Head Coach SyndaKyt. "He's raw as far as putting the rock on the floor and passing, as well as hitting free throws and the mid-range. We also want to look at improving his rebounding numbers. However, this kid is a damn gym rat and we were told to hide the keys from him after practices to keep him from over exerting himself. He will be instrumental to the process of building a winning program." Ajani's 6'8 frame coupled with being gifted in those more difficult traits have all the makings of a star. As we all know, wing players can take over the game and knowing how coach operates, he will develop his finishing and the rebounding and playmaking will develop as he is integrated into the system.

Ajani caught St. John's attention after an impressive AAU showing during the spring and summer circuit, averaging 20.8 PPG, 2.3 SPG, and 2.9 BPG. He also averaged an impressive 41 percent from 3. During the high school season, he helped lead Lincoln to the semifinals before losing in a close 74-71 contest. Ajani felt very emotional after the loss in his final season. He is known to be quite dramatic in most aspects of his life according to his parents, so it hit him very hard. It is good sign to know he was invested and he was a known leader for his squad.

Jaye Ajani's love for hoops started with his father watching ESPN Classics of the old basketball glory days that encompassed the Big East. The days of Chris Mullin and Patrick Ewing has helped him appreciate the evolution of the game. His favorite events just so happen to be the 1985 Final Four games with three Big East teams with a banger ending between Villanova and the Hoyas. The guy loves to learn, whether it be about his soon to be major of finance or basketball jargon. Red Storm fans are elated to know the hometown hero has decided to become a Big East Boy and happen to be playing for their squad!
