2023 Cougar News | David Ross to take snaps at QB in spring practices

After a disappointing loss in the Holiday Bowl, Washington State has begun making moves towards next season -- and this may be the most surprising one yet.

Freshman Punter David Ross has been a sensation for the Cougs this past season. With over a hundred punts from the season, 66% of them being inside the 20, Ross has been a crucial reason why the Cougs special teams is one of the best in the nation. And with these talents, Coach TuscanSota has placed him in a season which will challenge him further.

 

"He's going to be taking snaps at QB during spring practices." Coach TuscanSota mentioned to Cougar News the other day.

 

With the Washington State starting QB job now open with Kevin Miller graduating, the Cougars QB room is now an open field. David Ross will be competing with Sr Anfernee Rutledge, Redshirt Jr Vontae Karras, redshirt Jr Pat Niang, redshirt Sophomore Luis Curry, and redshirt Freshman Meyers Ramirez for the starting spot.

 

When asked about the opportunity, Ross had this to say:

"I'm just excited for the opportunity and to continue to develop my talents even further."

 

Not sure what to expect folks, but it's going to be a wild offseason for Cougars and Cougar fans in Pullman.
