Indiana Hoosiers Season Preview

Recommended Posts

Bloomington, IN – After a bowl appearance in the football season, the Hoosiers will look to replicate their success behind head coach @Piercewise1. The Hoosiers have a long history of success on the court and will look to senior leadership to lead them during the season. Below, we will take a quick look at the season ahead for the Hoosiers.

Projected Starters

G - Vidal Vitela - SR - A overall

G - Jeffrey Greeson - SR - B overall

F - Timothy Belcher - SR - B overall

C - Thanh Kim - SO - B overall

C - Larry Peterson - JR - A overall

Key Bench Contributors

C - Sergio Calderon - JR - B overall

G - Andrew Klenner - JR - B overall

F - Floyd Clay - SO - C overall

C - Shawn Erickson - SO - C overall

The Hoosiers will look to lean on their star duo of Vitela and Peterson. These two players should play very well off of each other as Vitela shoots the ball very well and Peterson is a menace on the defensive side of the floor. This is an upperclass-heavy team and that should bode well for them as they will be able to go nine or more players deep. Watch out for Erickson coming off the bench as he is one of the best rebounders this team has.

Non-Conference Schedule

Week 1A: @ St. Mary’s

Week 1B: @ Army

Week 2A: @ St. John’s (Gavitt Tip-Off Games)

Week 2B: Kansas

Week 3A: @ Virginia (ACC-B1G Challenge)

Week 3B: Utah State

Week 4A: Kentucky (Neutral Site)

Week 6A: Butler (Crossroads Classic)

Indiana has put together a fairly good non-conference schedule. They start off the season with three straight road games which will culminate in a tough game against St. John’s. They then have a couple of games that could go either way followed by a matchup with Utah State, one of the best teams in the country. This is a good mix of tough opponents and buy games for Indiana with a few of these games being coin flips. Non-conference projection: Low 4-4, High 6-2.

Overall Thoughts

I think that Indiana will be pretty solid this season. With the lack of depth at some spots and only four above-average defenders, the season could be pretty wacky for Indiana. They will be tested early on so we will be able to see where they stand out of the gate. They don’t have many 3-point shooters but they do finish well at the rim. Look for this Indiana team to take a few games to figure out their direction. Prediction: 17-11 (12-8 B1G)
