After the previous Illinois head coach announced his departure from coaching the Illinois football program after this season before the year started, the Illini were quick to find his replacement, as Athletics Director Jonathan Harrison Jr. decided to promote a member of the supporting cast into the fray. Today, it was announced that nemolee.exe -- the team's offensive coordinator -- would become the club's new head coach. He will be the 2nd overall head coach of the program and inherits a team with an already storied history.

 

Originally joining the NCAA football scene as a graduate assistant for California, nemolee.exe joined his home state's club as the team's offensive coordinator starting the 2021 season -- which was at first a questionable move by the Illini. Immediately the team's offense was revitalized in his first season, with the nemo-led offense bringing the team to an 11-3 record, with a 7-2 Big Ten conference record -- which was enough for #12 in the nation. After that success was somewhat duplicated during the 2022 regular season, the Illinois athletics department thought his coaching skills were too good to let anyone snatch him up. nemolee.exe had his press conference earlier today, and Illini fans are hoping that he continues the success he found with the team when he was OC.

 

It's only going to be up from here. nemolee.exe is expected to be the head coach for the team's upcoming bowl game -- the Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, NC -- against the Virginia Cavaliers.
