After an investigation into the Notre Dame recruiting scandal, new things have come to light. For a majority of the year, many people have though Jimbo Hopkins had great involvement in the case, but after a thorough NCAA Investigation, the NCAA has come to the conclusion that it was the Notre Dame AD who was behind the recruiting violations, not Hopkins. While some bans have been imposed on the program, Notre Dame can still have a solid recruiting class to finish out the year. In response to the investigation, Notre Dame has decided to cuts ties with the former athletic director and has decided to hire a new one. While Jimbo Hopkins has dealt with a very tumultuous situation the Irish have greatly improved upon last year and are definitely on this rise. The new AD, Andrew Collins, clearly agreed with this as he has decided to ink a huge contract extension with the first year head coach. This is shocking as Army attempted to also sign Hopkins,81, to a long term deal. The small military academy could simply not compete with this gigantic offer. Over the course of 10 years, the 81 year old is expected to make $ 85,000,000 , this offer is substantially bigger than what Army had previously offered Hopkins. Hopkins has this to say "You know its a really great thing when you can stay at an amazing program. I know there was a lot of offseason talk about moving, even I thought it was bound to happen, but great programs like this know how to retain great players and coaches. I'm glad they think I'm worth it and I really think this program is taking strides to greatness. This year there was still a lot to be desired, but it was a step in the right direction that helps us on this journey to greatness. To quote one of my favorite coaches, "Dream Big and believe, because dreams to come true, and today one of mine has" thank you everyone lets get back to work. Go Irish !
