Tulane @ Tulsa deep dive

I am bored at work and you know what that means you guys get new media. I didn't feel like starting any controversy so lets talk about Tulane's next game at Tulsa which is one of the more interesting games of the week in the AAC.

While a matchup between the 1st ranked team in the AAC and the 7th doesn't look interesting on paper once you start to look into this matchup you see how important of a game this really is. Lets start off by looking at Tulane they are sitting in 1st place in the AAC and are looking to try and win out for a chance to make the CFB playoffs. Tulsa is the most talented team Tulane has faced to this point so winning against a talented team like this will be a big statement on how good this team is and that is not even taking into consideration that it would be a win over the defending national champs and a loss could be the end of their playoff push. Next up Tulane has struggled to get their running game started they are going up against a Tulsa team that did not defend the run well last week allowing 194 yards and 1 touchdown on 27 attempts. This is a big opportunity for Tulane to get the run game going which while it isn't a big part of the offense it is important for Tulane to establish a decent run game to help make the offense more versatile and open up the passing game more. Also Tulane has a bye week after this game which will give the team some much needed rest at the halfway point of the season Tulane will be looking to go into their bye week at 5-1 which would put them in the top tier of teams and cap off a very impressive start to the season.

Now taking a look at Tulsa they are 1-4 going into this game and after a very tough OOC schedule and are 1-1 in conference Tulsa is a team that has disappointed so far but now playing in conference games has a real chance to turn their season around. For a struggling team the first win is always the hardest and now with that win under their belts and a baseline game plan that works we could start to see that national championship talent shine through. Tulsa getting a win at home here against a good Tulane team would be a huge step for them moving forward against a weak conference where they can really get their wheels turning and start a run that pushes them to a winning record. Tulsa's offense while still struggling a little bit in the passing game in terms of yards had 2 touchdowns and with a strong run game behind 170 yards on 26 attempts by Brandon Pipkins. This could be a good test for Tulsa's offense though as Tulane's defense which has been just ok is coming off of their best performance with 3 turnovers and a defensive touchdown. Last thing I want to talk about is coach @acewulf had said that he was disappointed with how his defense played and going up against a very high powered Tulane offense while it will be tough playing a good defensive game against this offense could be just what this team needs to turn the season around.

After this you can see that this is a game that can end up making or breaking the seasons of these two teams and could have big implications for the futures of these two programs.
