SEC Recap - 1st Quarter

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the first SEC Recap of the season! We'll be breaking it into quarters this year because why else other than FOOTBALL!

Current Heisman Watch Contenders for the SEC:

#1 in SEC (#5 Overall) - Alabama RB Chris Williams - 55.28 (Score)

#2 / #7 - Missouri QB Aaron Leamon - 51.53

#3 / #15 - Kentucky RB Kelvin Dupree - 46.09

Top Performing QBs (In Order)

SchoolNameQBRPYardsTDsINTs
MissouriAaron Leamon167.021,27194
AlabamaConnor Bennett217.8787881
South CarolinaKemoko Allard143.8395362

Leamon takes the #1 spot with an impressive win over Kentucky this past weekend while Bennett got to inflate stats against Vanderbilt while the team hung 63 on the Commodores. Honorable mention - True Freshman - Brandon Savage - Tennessee

Top Performing RBs (In Order)

SchoolNameRushing YardsReceiving YardsTDs (Total)Fumbles
AlabamaChris Williams742199140
TennesseeAldrick Ynoa61422650
KentuckyKelvin Dupree34218590

I personally think Vols RB Ynoa is a Heisman Watch snub as he's nearly figuratively and literally carried the Tennessee offense at times. He's a relentless force and without Ynoa I don't think Savage performs nearly as well as he is. Honorable mention - Elijah Lopez - LSU

SchoolNameReceptionsReceiving YardsTDsFumbles
MissouriJakeem Erlin2049231
TennesseeAlex Henderson2635940
AuburnDaniel Hester2635640

Missouri and Auburn have the best receiving duos within the conference without question. I don't think it's a stretch to see Jakeem Erlin by the end of the season competing for hardware if he's able to sustain the pace he's at when making the most of his targets. Honorable Mention - TE Alex Nowitzki - TAMU

Miscellaneous Defensive Stat Leaders:

TFL Leaders -

1) MSST DE Ian "Last Name"(? Lol) - 12

2) TAMU DE Tyler Hill - 11

3) UF ILB Keenan Williams -10

Sack Leaders -

1) UGA DT Casey Shaffer - 5.5

2) MSST DE Ian "Last Name" - 4

T3) TAMU DE Tyler Hill - 3

T3) SCAR DT Nick Navarro - 3

T3) UGA DT Jon Gore - 3

T3) AUB DE Jerry Hager - 3

Team DEF Key Notes-

- UGA leads the SEC with 12 Defensive sacks in only 3 games played

- TENN is allowing a best in conference 65.25 rushing yards per game

- TAMU is allowing a best in conference 110 passing yards per game
