Dick Richards picked a great game to watch Saturday night as the game ended with BYU defeating Notre Dame in OT 30-27. Notre Dame was up early in the first half and got out to an early 17-0 lead. In the second quarter, BYU QB Chris Rosales broke a run for a 55-yard touchdown and made the score 17-7. A 28-yard field goal by Juan Johnson would follow soon after and make it 17-10 at the half. Notre Dame QB Izaiah Plawecki had an amazing game passing for 3 touchdowns and 511 yards. Two of those touchdowns came in the first half and one in the 4th quarter which made it 24-10. After the Notre Dame score, BYU put together a quick drive with a 50-yard pass to Marcus Deshields and a touchdown run for Willie Irving that made it 24-17. BYU would lead another drive at the 5-minute mark with a 43-yard reception from Carlos Richardson and a 24-yard reception for a touchdown by Eric Ford Notre Dame would drive the ball down the field once again but was stopped at the 4-yard line with a sack from Cory Donahue. A field goal attempt was missed by the Notre Dame kicker and the game was headed to overtime. BYU was able to hold Notre Dame to a field goal and then score a touchdown in OT to win the game 30-27.

Dick Richards was interviewed and was asked what he thought about the game and it's atmosphere. "It was great to see BYU be able to beat a ranked opponent and in such an amazing game no less". During halftime, a chant of "We want Dick" broke out of the BYU student section and a couple of women were escorted from the stadium for flashing Dick. Here is what Dick said about this moment: "The BYU fan base is awesome, I saw guys shotgunning sodas and I got plenty of phone numbers and even a couple marriage proposals.

We also spoke to some of Dick's family during the course of the eventful game. We spoke to his father Richard Richards and he seemed to be very upset about the short height rumors of his son. "I am so sick of the media and coaches saying my son is too short to play QB". He continued with "Dick still has room to grow, in fact I was 5 foot 2 when I was in high school and now look at me". It is worth noting that the Alaskan Cod fisherman was largely built at 6 foot 3 and even played high school football with NFL player Mark Schlereth. "The Richards family are growers, not showers," said Richard. Richard also spoke of the possible NIL deals his son could recieve by next year. "We have already begun talks with Dick's Sporting Goods and they are a great company". "However, any of this Viagra or Nugenix talk is all lies." He put an end to the rumors by saying: "The Richards men have never had any problems in that area so we have no need for it".

The last person we interviewed was Dick's Uncle Willy Cox. Cox was a former kicker for BYU and today is the CEO of Alaska Airlines. Cox was asked about his time at BYU and his confidence of Dick committing to BYU. "I loved my time here at BYU and I'm glad Dick was able to get out to see the atmosphere here". "I don't know if Dick will commit this week, but everytime I have talked to him, his interest has only been in BYU so it's just a matter of time."
