Blindsided By Love Greenlit at Hallmark

Big news out of Hollywood today as news broke on Deadline.com that KGreen829 and alexfall862 have been attached to the Matt Howard vehicle “Blindsided by Love”.

The producers, Kgreen829 and alexfall862 join the project after their work on similar sports-themed movies Fumbling Hearts, Receiving It, Receiving It Too: Over the Shoulder, Receiving It 3: Too Fast Too Curious, and The Football Diaries: A Matt Howard Story.

Posting on their social today, Hallmark announced the project with a press release that previewed the film thusly:

Opposites collide when star the QB at JuCo Jacksonville Tech Mitch Grissom (Matt Howard) has to join forces with a new transfer from the big city Tobey McLawrence (tba). They both get more than they bargained for in a sports-themed twist on romantic comedy.

A leaked draft of the movie’s script broke online shortly after the news:

Clearly this movie is positioning itself as a chance for Matt Howard to win the hearts of local Jacksonvillians before seeing the field. One wonders whether the writers of the movie can break out of their favorite genre and reach more than wine moms stuck at home while the kids are at soccer practice.

The film is set to be a lighthearted romcom in the vein of basically any Billy Crystal flick, but it's yet to be seen whether FSU star and Jaguars' rookie Matt Howard has the kind of acting range to deliver in this role.

The producers had this to say about the project:

“Yeah, we’re really proud to be associated with Matt. He was such a great actor to work with on the Football Diaries and he didn’t cause any coke-related problems at all. I can’t imagine this will be anything but conflict-free this time around.

I’m also excited to be able to shop this film to, most likely, Lifetime or Hallmark. Both are far more reputable than the companies that have published our previous films.”

“I am really proud to be working on such an impactful movie. I am not working on some silly little story, this is a story that really matters that the people need to see. Matt Howard is perfect for the role and his recent struggles will help him connect to his character. I just want to say that this movie will change your life and has a very strong message about love being love and anyone who says otherwise is a hater who knows nothing about what makes a good film.”

In what can only be described as a lustful montage crossed with Saving Private Ryan, the two main characters fall in love over the course of several practices as their football aggression turns into a salacious series of dogpiles in which Mitch and Tobey start staying in the pile just a little too long for the viewers comfort. That’s not my opinion as a writer, it literally says that in the script. We were able to obtain a partially redacted copy safe for public consumption.

As the story develops, we're told that Matt Howard is supposed to show off his dramatic chops, but given the portion of the script we obtained that appears to be from this scene, the jury is still out on what has more range: his projected draft spot or his acting.

When reached for comment about the project, Matt Howard added:

“After my first two projects Football Diaries and my self-directed first film My Struggle, I feel like this is just the movie to put me right in the conversation for Oscars. My work is going to set me free to be an Oscar winner. A tremendous moment for QBs everywhere as Matt Howard is going to show everyone I can be more than just a throw jockey.”

As the story continues, the DE and QB continue to find each other in sack-induced dogpiles, treating the scrum as their respite from the prying eyes of their teammates and community members.

Rumors have it that the Hallmark initially passed on the project, with concerns about "the cocaine budget" and Matt Howard's insistence that he do all of his own stunts, including a parachute-less free dive off the coast of Japan that executives termed "needless" and "not entirely relevant to the plot, wait hang on there's no plot anyway."
