One of the top defensive backs in the country is none other than Edward Martin of Erath, Louisiana. The Free Safety has started for the program as a sophomore and has grown into one of the most effective defensive players in the league. With nine interceptions his junior year, Edward intends to break that personal record and go even further.

Regarding his college football aspirations, Edward prefers to stay close to home. When asked why, he spoke highly of Louisiana football, highly on the love for his family, and some of his favorite programs in the state.

"I love my mom; she's been my number one fan. I've got brothers and cousins who have watched me play since I was a kid, but she was the one always going to my practices. She likes to sit as close to the field when she can. You can really pick her out in the stands -- she's got a small bright-blue Erath flag she waves; and she's holding a poster with my jersey number and yelling my name. Watching me play is very important to her, and I can't think of a game where she wasn't there. I want to continue that. There's a lot of great schools close by too -- LSU, Tulane, Rajin' Cajuns. There's nothing like Louisiana football, and I can't think of any better programs that I'd rather play for."
