Jacksonville Jaguars Welcome 2022 Draft Class to Duval

Recommended Posts

The Jacksonville Jaguars are excited to welcome 8 very talented individuals into our organization after being selected in the 2022 SIMFBA NFL draft.

Round 1, Pick 19 – OG Quincy Wile, Mississippi State

We felt strongly going into this season that we had to build the offensive line through both free agency and talent in the draft class. Wile shines in pass blocking and boasts a 33 Wonderlic during the NFL Combine this year. There are a lot of reasons to be excited for this pick as he is expected to play day one and the ceiling is high with his A graded potential. Quincy is the first person in his family to graduate from college, a fact both him and his mother are proud of.

Round 2, Pick 14 – QB Matt ‘Reformed’ Howard, Florida State

We know this one probably turned some heads and generated a lot of buzz. 2021 Heisman finalist Howard checks all the boxes for us with his rocket arm and winning mentality. Quite frankly we weren’t expecting our top QB on the board to still be there at this point so we jumped on the opportunity. We fully expect him to learn under the wing of veteran QB Steven Connolly this season and develop into a franchise QB down the road. During our extensive interview process, Howard assured us that he has reformed himself into a higher character individual with the exception of any Miami Dolphin related trash talk. He also voiced appreciation of Jacksonville’s lower cost of living so he can afford a house big enough for all his children he fathered in Tallahassee.

Round 3, Pick 19 – OLB Phil ‘The Drill’ O’Malley, Texas Christian

Phil ‘The Drill’ O’Malley, as he was known at TCU, was the next selection in the third round. He offers some of the best coverage skills in college football, which will be a very useful skill to have at the next level. He can play man or zone coverage and is an elite tackler as well. We think O’Malley fits an immediate need and can excel opposite of Pro Bowl OLB Kirk Ridley this year. He is brothers with famous UCF fighter Sean O’Malley.

Round 4, Pick 14 – OT DeAngelo Cook, Charlotte

DeAngelo is a high ceiling player with A potential who is the final piece to our offensive line puzzle for 2022. Our staff believes he is one of the best pass blocking linemen in this draft class. With his high football IQ, he should be able to pick up the offense quickly and go toe-to-toe with any defensive end he faces. Cook is an avid video gamer who qualified recently for the Madden Championship Series and won 4th place.

Round 5, Pick 19 – WR Akrum Robinson, Oregon

Robinson is an absolute burner at the slot WR spot. Torching defenses for over 1,300 yards and 14 TDs in 2021, Robinson was electric in Eugene. He turned heads with a 4.31 40 yard dash at the combine and is just as reliable catching as he is at running crisp, clean routes. QB Steven Connolly should be very happy to have another big time weapon to throw to this season. Expect many big time plays from this fantastic receiver in the slot. He could easily turn out to be the biggest steal of this year’s class for us. Robinson graduated from Oregon in pre-medical biology and plans to one day return to school to pursue a medical degree after his NFL career is over.

Round 6, Pick 14 –DT Brian Simmons, Southern California

Versatile defensive tackle Brian Simmons offers our team a unique combination of agility and strength that should allow him to contribute to our front seven. Equally effective against the run and pass, his game does not have many flaws to pick out on film. He has a higher ceiling than many linemen at this stage of the draft and it is expected for him to crack the rotation this season.

Round 7, Pick 19 – DE Noah Pillar, University of New Mexico

1650846638962.png.2782f6f1547b09134a7c3fab529df31a.png

As a speed rushing specialist, Noah was very adept at tackling running backs in the backfield for loss. He totaled 17 this season for the Lobos and while he didn’t record sacks he did pressure the QB often. His top tier speed and high potential ceiling makes him a very exciting project for the coaches in our organization to work with.

Round 8, Pick 14 – DT Chris Hernandez, Stanford

1650846664552.png.872ce9e4c234202470af2994d9477d4a.png

It is not believed that many teams had him on their draft radar going into this draft. However, Hernandez quietly put up a solid number of tackles for the Cardinal and terrorized opposing quarterbacks for three sacks as well. His ability to beat blockers allowed him to get 17 tackles for loss. Chris is a Pac 12 academic all American and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering with summa cum laude honors.
