The reasoning is, you drove the price up on the FA to the point where others dropped from the running, when you were not willing to accept that contract.

 

Given the above rule from Dev Diary #50, you must accept this contract.

 

- If this contract puts you over the cap with the estimated draft picks, but not the overall cap, then you maybe wait until the draft to handle the cap situation (cut/trade players).

 

- If this contract puts you over the cap right now, then you must *immediately* cut/trade players to get under the cap.
