Below is a breakdown position-by-position of (from L-R) their current roster, what they did on the trail, and the grade I gave them in recruiting that position.

PositionCurrent position gradeCurrent statusRecruiting statusCrooting Grade
CC+A pair of pretty solid, high-upside 3 stars in the last 2 classes who look to be panning outDidn't sign anyC+
CBC-2s and 3s for the last 2 cycles, none of whom have better than a C+ potential or C overallSigned a 4, 3, 2 combo with all average potentials. Not sure the 2 star will see any playing time at all with that low of a potential so a little waste there, but Xavier Saxton is a big time get to inject talent into this roomB-
DEB-Have a pair of 4 stars on the roster, but mostly average 2 stars around themSigned a 4* speed guy out of Florida (although with D+ potential) is a big get to replenish, along with in-state 3* with B potential alongside him.B
DTCMeh. Their best guy on paper was a C overall sophomore 3 star so it's not looking super bright for the futureSigned one of the few 4* DTs out there which is a big winB
FBF?None rostered? I think this is the first such position groupSigned a 3 star guy with B+ potential which is a good signing. He might not be ready to be great his first year, but he's the only guy there so it's his job.B-
FSD3 guys on roster, all 2 stars is not a good recipe, although last years signee was an A+ potentialGrabbed an A potential 3 star with Joe Gay which is another immediate bump to the roomC+
ILBB-Thin room with only 3 returnees, but talented. Last year's sophomore was a B overall B+ potential 4 star who should be quite goodAdded another 3 star into the room. Very much an average signee and an average grade as the room isn't really improved from thisC
KC-Nobody over a C overall is a hard spot to be inSigned one of the top kickers: 4* Larson Hendy (actually their 5th highest recruit)B+
OGCAll extremely average 2s and 3s with Cs galoreSigned only a single 2* with B+ potential from Minnetonka. Would've liked to see them tap that Florida pipeline as they likely needed another 3* guy to pair with him.D+
OLBC-Higher potentials, but still filled with 2s and 1 3, none of whom have gotten past a C overallSigned a coverage 4* here which is very good, along with a higher potential pass rushing 3 to give some archetype versatilityB-
OTB-Pretty good shape here. Signed a 4 star B B guy last year and an A potential 3 star the year before who's already a BAdded a pair of bodies in 3 stars from the frigid north. They shouldn't have too much pressure and will be able to develop for a few years before playingC+
PD+Ew. Their underclassmen are 1 stars. GrossSigned another 4* specialist out of Florida which is commendable. Their Special teams play should be good in the futureB
QBCI don't see anybody here who looks like they're going to step up and be the QB for the future for the gophers. The job should be there for a talented freshman to unseat the 3 cycles before themCre'von Lauer fits the bill of future starter, as the 4* scrambler out of GA (CHECK ELITE 11)B
RBB-Signed a 4 star speed back just last cycleAnd signed another one this year. The downside is that he has D- potential, but those 2 should be platooning well in the future. Also added a meh 2 star, which frankly feels like a bit of a wasted scholarship hereB-
SSC+Their best guy is entering his 4th year in the program and there are no standout replacements to be seenNow there is. Kyle Walker is a 4* out of NC who will likely take the starting job by his 2nd or 3rd year.B
TEB-Signed a 4 star B overall just last cycle, so on a good trackFollowed up by an average 3 star to keep the room serviceable in case of emergenciesC
WRCAll 2s and 3s without any big standouts in the group. Ok but nothing that will be exceptional in the B1G.4 signees here to try and elevate the room. High potential 2 and pair of 3s to develop for the future, along with a 4* route runner gets this room much more full of good playersB

Went down south with fewer schools active:signing 4 GA kids and 8 FL to get some southern speed on roster. Honestly this was one of the more underwhelming rosters I've seen and Minnesota has done a good job to start getting it turned around. Almost every position was addressed (imo) properly which bodes well for the future. This was definitely a "base" class though, as there were not very many guys who you'd peg as likely stars for the future. Instead it probably just lifts the floor of the program (which is a success on its own). Also worth noting that this program evidently also puts more stock into stars than potential so we will see how that shakes out

Below is a breakdown position-by-position of (from L-R) their current roster, what they did on the trail, and the grade I gave them in recruiting that position.

PositionCurrent position gradeCurrent statusRecruiting statusCrooting Grade
CCBest looking player is last years B potential 3 star. So a pretty average roomSigned a C+ potential 3 to keep the room pretty goodC
CBB-They had a 4 star B overall sophomore as the highlight of the room, but need a piece opposite himTook 3 swings at finding him, and signed a 4 star B overall in Danny Henderson as the likely best of those (2 other average 3 stars)B
DEBA 4 star B overall last cycle and 2 sophomore 3 stars who are already Bs? This is a solid roomAdded another 4 star here making this position set for the next few cycles. Also added an average 3 star prospect and a 1 star for some reason? Coaches kid I guess as he only has C+ potentialB-
DTCSome high potential 2s on the roster, but none have panned out just yet leaving a bit of a holeAdded a 3 star which is better than last year, although he only has a D+ Potential, so he will hopefully be recruited over next eyarC-
FBD+One guy, an average 2 starSigned one of the top FBs in the country: A B overall, B potential 4 star receiving specialist from California. Great workA-
FSCNothing great in the pipeline beyond average 3 starSigned 2 guys to compete in the future (with good archetype spread as well). You could imagine rotating them depending on how pass or run heavy the opponent isC+
ILBC+3 three stars, all averageSigned another 4 star here which is very solid and adds some talent for sure.B-
KC+They got a serviceable 3 star kicker last cycle which is more than some programs can sayDidn't sign anyC+
OGB+The 5 star A overall sophomore had one side of the line locked down. Opposite him is a collection of average 3s for nowAdded a pair of 3 stars to stock away for future development, and got a 4 star B overall to fill the other starting job this or next yearB
OLBCA bunch of average 3 stars in this room, not much to noteSigned a 4 star coverage 'backer which is another lift for the roomB-
OTB+4 star B overalls each of the last 2 cycles have this room looking really good for the futureGot a very average 3 star here. Not too exciting, but they were already set at the positionC+
PC+Got a 3 star A- potential last yearDidn't sign anyC+
QBCThe last 2 cycles have not unearthed a QB who is either highly rated or has (so far) advanced to a B overallSigned another average guy to fit in there with 3* pocket QB. Next year they definitely should look to make a big splash at QB to take advantage of this stud WR roomC
RBB+One of their crown jewels in last years class: A 4 star B overall A potential balanced back. Not many can unseat his starting jobSigned an average 3 star guy to sit and develop for depthC+
SSD+Dismal prospects here with mediocre 2 star and D potential 3.Signed another D+ Potential 3 to keep the room about the same talent levelC-
TEC-Average 3 stars and took a flier last year that looks mediocreSigned a B+ 3 star who could potentiall get some snaps in the future (if they don't only run 4 wide every play)C+
WRC+A lot of hits on the 3 stars they have in this room actuallyWOW. This is probably the best position class so far. I am in awe that he was able to pull it off. 2 Five Star prospects is a phenomenal haul, at the top on it's own. But then they also got a 4 star B overall player as well? And threw in a 3 star just for good measure? Absolutely amazing, if this was out of a 100 it would be the only possible class to hit that 100A++

Nebraska had an underwhelming season last year, but luckily the roster talent doesn't look too bad for the future. Onto this signing class. Alex ran recruiting which we are all very very grateful for. He clearly falls into the stars over potential camp (and I will not comment on if he saw any secrets as recruiting guru to lead to that opinion). I feel comfortable saying this was one of the top classes. Offensively in particular Nebraska is building a juggernaut. Good line play, great running backs and ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL WRs. Like I cannot emphasize enough how crazy good this WR group will be. The only thing missing is a good signal caller and gameplan to mix it all together. If they had signed a high end 4 star here I would be calling for a top-10 Nebraska offense within 2 years. Instead they are rolling the dice a little on development, and you would think will chase a stud next cycle. Defensively they are a little bit less talented, but still added a lot of good pieces, and I expect Nebraska will improve each of the next few years on a path to compete for B1G titles

Below is a breakdown position-by-position of (from L-R) their current roster, what they did on the trail, and the grade I gave them in recruiting that position.

DYikes, a pair of 2 stars and a 1 star have this position near the bottom of the barrelSigned an above average 2 star who is actually probably the most talented guy in the roomC-
CA hodgepodge of ok 2 and 3 starsSigned another average 3 star and took a flier on an A potential 1 starC
CSame as above: A mixture of ok 2 and 3 stars (although with less potential than the CBs)Signed an ok 3 star and an A potential 2 star to keep the room development focusedC
B-Signed a 4 star last year and a very good A potential 3 star the year beforeAdded another 4 star here with a B- potential making this one of their best rooms. Also took a local Salt Lake 1 star C- potential for unknown reasonB
F?None rosteredSinged an A+ potential 3 star receiving FB which is a very good signee and he walks in as their sole player at the positionB
BTook a 4 star B overall last cycle who should be the starter for a whileAdded a 3* with A- potential who is probably best served with a RS and some time to develop with an eye to start after JC Gentry leavesB-
C-Very very thin room, although they had a 3 star soph who had hit B overallSigned a 2 star A- potential guy, but this room needed more bodies who could play soon imoC-
CSome very serviceable, average players in here who probably won't lose the Utes gamesAdded a B+ 2 star to stock and developC-
CSigned an A+ potential 3 star last year which is very good for the future, but the classes before that were quite emptyAdded an average 3 star and 2 star pair to at least get some bodies into the roomC
CSimilarly, signed an A- overall 3 star last cycle, but not many good candidates for the other starting spot in the futureGood signees here as they grabbed an in-state 4 star with B+ potential who should lock down a starting spot along with a B- potentail 3 star tooB
B-A very good 4 star sophomore at one side and an A potential 3 star on the otherAnother good room, signing an in-state 4 star B overall (best recruit in the class) and a B- potential 3 alongside himB
C+Grabbed a pretty high potential 3 last cycleSigned a development 2 starC-
CIMO they didn't have their future starter on roster with a bunch of average on the rosterSigned their guy with B+ potential 4 star scrambler from Mayfair in Lakewood, CA. (Did he convince the staff to grab that 2 star Punter from his high school as well? Sage please tell us) (ADD ELITE 11)B+
B-Signed a 4 star speed guy just last year with some other 3s around himGot the thunder to his lightning with power back 4 star Joe LopezB
CNot too impressed with this crop, seem all average to meSigned a B- potential 3 star to mix in with them in future competitionC
C-Not loving the last 2 classes, need some talentInstead got a developmental B potential 2 star blockerD+
CNo game breakers here, but they have a few 3 stars who should be ok when they see the fieldAdded a high upside A- potential 3 star and an A potential 2 star to developC

Lots of focus on the higher potential, lower rated guys. I get that as a strategy, but their last few classes were extremely underwhelming, and in the interim 3 years while they wait for this class to develop they won't have a very deep roster. They did sign some game-changers in pockets so they can still compete, but overall I'd say this class has a focus on 3-4 years away instead of short term help

FWIW, I have no idea how progression works - just kept track of noodles...

But you also gave away my 2 year recruiting strategy, since I am planning to go hard in the paint on a QB next season.

Mizzou and I went on a similar oath of signing nearly full classes by ID'ing 1 player for each position group.

The 1 star guy was me not understanding how my own system worked and pitched and offered him WAY too early. I feel he's gonna see a lot of scout team tackling dummy reps just to spite him accepting the offer.
