Week 11 Score: West Virginia 29 Texas Tech 22

POTG: WVU RB Pasoni Adames - 25 carries for 186 yards, 1 TD, 4 receptions for 35 yards

What happened: For only the second time this season, the Red Raiders managed to score 20+ points, but it still was not enough to earn their first victory of the season.

The two teams played it close almost the entire game with Texas Tech holding a pair of early leads. West Virginia would eventually rebound and pull ahead by a score of 20-9 in the second quarter before Texas Tech would trim the lead 20-15 as the teams headed to the locker room.

Midway through the 3rd quarter, the Red Raiders would regain the lead (22-20) on a 6 yard touchdown pass from Jordan Madero to tight end Jake Davis. Unfortunately, that would be all the Red Raiders offense could muster as West Virginia would kick three field goals en route to a 29-22 victory.

Texas Tech was led by running back Fernando Gonzales who finished with 177 yards on 30 carries and two touchdowns. Quarterback Jordan Madero finished 19 of 29 for 198 yards and one touchdown in his return to the starting role.

The Mountaineers were led by running back Pasoni Adames who finished with 25 carries for 186 yards with one touchdown, while adding 4 receptions for 35 yards. Quarterback Logan Gabriel was extremely effective completing 16 of 21 passes for 266 yards and one touchdown.

Week 12 Preview:

Match-up: Kansas State (6-3) at Texas Tech (0-10)

The Red Raiders limp to the 2021 finish line with only two opportunities remaining to avoid a winless season. The challenge in front of Texas Tech this week will come from the 6-3 Kansas State Wildcats. Kansas State enters the game fresh off of a 24-23 victory over Baylor.

What to watch for (TTU): Do the Red Raiders have any pride? Let’s be honest, we’ve exhausted every storyline imaginable. At this point, it comes down to pride. Texas Tech has been very poor, but they have been within striking distance nearly every game. Their largest defeat was 18 points, most of the other losses have been one or two score games. If this team can find any sort of offensive success, they could pull out a win in the last two weeks.

What to watch for (KSU): Will the Air Raid offense keep humming? Quarterback Brandon Smith was effective in last week's victory finishing 30 of 56 for 312 yards and two touchdowns. If the scheme works as designed and Smith can avoid turnovers, look for the Wildcats to come away with a victory.

What will happen: The offense will continue to struggle and the defense will not be able to force enough stops. About the only way we see Texas Tech winning this game is if the Wildcats turn the ball over 3+ times. Otherwise, the Red Raiders do not have enough offensive firepower to keep pace.

Prediction: Kansas State 30 Texas Tech 17
