Match-up: Texas Tech (0-3) at #18 Texas (3-1)

After a week off, the Red Raiders of Texas Tech return to the field in search of their first win of the season. Unfortunately for Texas Tech, the challenge won’t be any easier. The Red Raiders will make the trip east to Austin to take on their in-state foe, the University of Texas and coach @cultur3. Ranked #18 in the country and led by a prolific passing attack, it’s hard to see a path to victory for Texas Tech. Limping out of the conference slate with an 0-3 record, there’s a real possibility that the Red Raiders finish the season without a win. Texas, on the other hand, is off to a great start despite suffering their first loss last week. Led by the arm of quarterback John Saffold, the Longhorns have featured a prolific pass game and will likely be the most challenging offensive attack the Red Raiders have faced in 2021. Texas Tech has been doomed by their lack of offense, but the defense has kept things close. They will have their work cut out for them this week.

What to watch for (TTU): Who will start at quarterback? Senior quarterback Reggie Chavis has been abysmal through three games and simply hasn’t performed at a level expected of a division one quarterback. The staff closed practice to the media over the past few weeks so no one is sure who has been getting the reps, but whispers indicate that Senior Jordan Madero may get his shot to show what he can do under center. In a league that is driven by QB play, the Red Raiders have been severely lacking.

What to watch for (Texas): Can John Saffold return to form? Saffold was terrific en route to the Longhorns 3-0 start where he threw for 1,330 yards 11 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. However, he struggled mightily in last week's matchup against Baylor completing only 10 of 31 passes for 218 no touchdowns and two interceptions. Saffold likely does need to throw for 400+ yards to beat this Texas Tech team, but it will make life a lot easier if the signal caller can return to his previous form.

What will happen: This one isn’t likely to be close despite any changes Texas Tech may make. Saffold will play like he did through the first three games and Texas will come away with an easy win to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Prediction: Texas 38 Texas Tech 10
