  1. Jaguars Dominate! Falcons Grounded on Monday Night Football DT Brian Simmons 2Tkls, 0.5TFL, 0.5 Scks(shown left) DT Jeffery Amend 4 Tkl, 1 TFL, 1.5 Scks(Shown Right) Sunday night under the lights, one of the smallest markets in the the NFL got a chance to showcase its talents before a national audience. The Jacksonville Jaguars hoisted the Atlanta Falcons. This is the second time in three weeks that the Jaguars have gotten national attention, and they did not waste the opportunity to show why they deserved it. Atlanta coming in to Sunday's game were 2-0 and needed to make a statement. They opened the season with back to back conference games against Tampa and Carolina. Against Tampa they saw an abysmal 7-6 win in which neither team saw their offense do much of anything. The Falcons did see a much stronger showing against the panthers, however the panthers are considered to be one of the worst teams in the league at the moment. They needed a statement against a Jacksonville team that seems hot on offense, however has started to earn some criticism on defense. They unfortunately would not make the statement they wanted to. The Jaguars on the other hand, came out with with a mission. Thursday Night Week 1, you could say the Jaguars were lucky to win. A last second touchdown pass by Connolly saved the game. The following week against KC, they looked ok, the offense was great but again the defense looked sluggish and poor for a team considered to be a favorite for a deep playoff run. According to the headcoach, this was a conversation he and his staff, as well as the front office had long talks about. "We were not happy with how our Defense has been performing. The coaching staff and I spent a lot of time going over game film and discussing changes to line up, changes to the game plan and how we attack opponents, how we call plays all that stuff. With the front office, we discussed other options. Did we want to shake things up and make a trade. Bring someone else in. For a team that was 2-0, you would think we were 0-2. That is how heavy our conversations were. That is how high our expectations are for this season." Coach said following the game with Atlanta. He would go on to say "we did change up a few schematic things that I think went a long way to helping us on defense, a few things that helped us on offense. A couple things I am still not happy about, but as a coach I don't think you are ever happy." CB Randy Espino 4 Tkl The Jaguars staff might not be happy, but the players sure are. Following the air raid that the Jacksonville offense unleashed, the Defense held the Falcons to 12 points ending the game 51-12, pushing the Jaguars in the latest NFL Power rankings into the number 1 spot. While the rest of the league will want to focus on the offensive clinic that the Jaguars show cased, the defensive performance can not be undervalued. Aside from holding Chris Frazier to under 100 yards passing, (9 for 29, 95 yards) this was the first time this season that the run defensive kept opponents under not only 100 yards rushing, but 200 yards rushing. Atlanta leading rusher was FB Fredy Olivarez, who ran for 30 yards on the first play of the game, which help set up Atlanta's opening drive Field goal, and only lead of the game. Other than that, Wayne Ricketts was 11 for 23 yards and a touchdown(missed XP). While the defense played an excellent game, this isn't even the biggest news for the defense to come out this week for the Jaguars. While it happened to late for them to make an appearance, the Jaguars will be getting two new players, and saying goodbye to a few former ones as they made a trade this week with Baltimore. CB Charles Kling and DT Manuel Harris will be joining the club as the Jags sendoff WR Clarence Napier, OT Michael Boyd, as well as a 2023 4th round pick, and a 2024 5th round pick in exchange. DT Manuel Harris is the corner stone of the trade. The vital piece that the team needed above everything else. A strong run defender who is expected to help the struggling defense firm up the middle alongside Jeffery Amend, despite the recent success Rookie DT Brian Simmons has had pass rushing since being put in the lineup at the start of week 2. Kling, who is expected to fill in at the Slot corner position, has already become a fan favorite given a series of tweets that have gone viral when news of the trade broke. He has already embraced being a Jaguar and #Duuuvallll. Adding the experienced corner to the slot position however really should give the Jaguars one of the deepest secondaries in the league, and hopefully make the defense far more dangerous. This game was very important. For the fans, it gave them something crazy to cheer for and get wild about. For the players, it gave them a new set of confidence going into another important game next week against a conference rival in Indianapolis, who have been struggling. For the coaching staff, it helped reaffirm choices, and show a way to help move the team forward. This game also showed the rest of the league that the Jaguars are just as forreal as the LA rams, Miami, and some of the other fan favorites taking the league by storm. This season is setting itself up to be an exciting one and we can't wait to see where it takes us.
  2. FSU v Florida for the toilet Florida bowl. No matter who wins, FSU still sucks.

  5. Morgan Neal 19 for 34, 155 yards, 2TDs, 0 Int. An Ugly Win Is Still A Win; Florida Topple Kent State 14-9 in the Swamp. The Florida Gators opened the season Yesterday afternoon hosting the Kent State Golden Flashes. The home crowd had plenty of sun, but unfortunately the orange and blue faithful were gifted a low scoring affair. In an ugly win, the Gators came out on top 14-9. "It wasn't pretty, it wasn't the game we were hoping to have... but it is a long season and this is a good first step and we can learn a lot from this. Every win matters. The goal is Championships. You get there by winning every game you can, even the ugly ones." Coach Weeze said in his post game press conference. "Especially the ugly ones. We need to take a step back and see what we did well on offense and what we need to change, defensively, i couldn't be prouder of how well those men bent, but didn't break." Defensively, it is true, the Gators did bend, but they didn't break. On the ground they allowed 225 yards, but through the air, only 77 yards, with a 36% completion percentage. They allowed one rushing touchdown where the extra point was missed, and a field goal. Keion Ernsberger managed 109 yards on 17 attempts and Jalen Armah managed 73 yards on 12 attempts and 1 touchdown. Both Kent States Quarterback and running back, respectively, managed better than 6 yards per attempt. While they will need to solidify the run game going forward, it is good to see the secondary stand strong as well as the unit as a whole keep the opponent under ten despite how well they were able to try to grind them down. On Offense, the Gators might need to go back to the drawing board. Morgan Neal wasn't the most accurate QB in the world, but he was clean. He kept the ball in Florida's hands and did his best to keep the team moving forward, even recovering a fumble on one occasion. As the first half came to a close, he made a critical play that allowed the Gators finally get on the board. Neal would Finish the day 19 of 33(56%) for 155 yard, with 2 touchdowns. He also ran once for 6 yards. The rushing attack for the Gators was less of a standout than the Golden Flashes, but Sam Haynes still had a fairly decent day rushing for 111 yards. He didn't score on the ground, but he did catch one for a touchdown. Next Week, Florida gets to host the visiting Maryland Terrapins. Maryland is coming off a good win against EMU. They are also a lot more balanced than Kent State so the coaching staff are going to have their hands full getting their squad ready for a tough team.
  6. Maimi and jax tying for two seems fitting. Preseason rematch incoming
  7. Week 1 Overtime Excitement Cardiac Cats Make Presence Felt in AFC South Clash Titans RB John Knighten Rushed for 210 yards and a touchdown Jacksonville opened up their season, and the season for the NFL at home against their rival in the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans. The Jags were the favorites at home, but needed a last ditch effort from Quarterback Steven Connolly (28 of 42 for 374 yards, 3 TD 0 Int) for a 36 yard touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Richard Roshell (12 TGT, 9 CTH for 122 yards and 2 TDs). A clutch extra point from kicker Paul Tompkins ensured the Jags would survive and go to overtime. In overtime, Connolly came in clutch once again and lead the team down the field and found a way to win the game with a touchdown pass to Charles Brown. Offensive Player of the week: QB Steven Connolly: 28 of 42 for 374 yards, 3 TD 0 Int, 1 attempt for 4 yards Defensive Player of the week: CB Fausto Harrison: 4 tkl 1 Int.
  8. And you’re right, i probably didn’t give enough credit to the fact that it was all upper classmen. I did notice that though. I guess I should have mentioned once you get pass the starters, the talent drops significantly. Those As and Bs goes to Cs and Ds real quick. And the grades on the secondary starters (slot receiver, nickel corner, etc) are essentially hot garbage. So while writing it. I think I zoned in so hard on it because I could see it while I was writing. I didn’t think about how others wouldn’t be able to see it. But I can see how maybe it was too much doom and gloom/focus on stars. but it does feel nice to get really acquainted with the roster and have a firmer idea of how I need to attack the recruiting trail over the next several years.
  9. New head coach Weeze looks to rebuild the Gators and challenge for the SEC East Florida 2022 Preview An In-depth Look at the Florida Gators After a long off season, the 2022 season is finally here. For the Florida Gators, this season is not expected to be the season they win it all. New Head coach Weeze took the job knowing he was going to rebuild the team from the ground up. With only 9 4* players on the roster, only 7 of those are projected starters with 1 officially being redshirted and 1 projected to be a backup this season. 3 of those 7 starters are also seniors. No matter how well the team performs on the field this season, Coach Weeze knows he has to win on the recruiting trail. Florida has to win big recruiting big time players. Florida enters the season with 94 players on their roster. 85 of those players are 3* are lower, with 53 of those being 2* or lower. In other words, 56% of the roster is rated as a 2* or worse. If the Gators expect to compete in the SEC East, much less for the SEC, this isn't going to cut it. Coach Weeze, while he got mixed reviews from various media outlets on his recruiting last season, he himself will tell you he made critical mistakes at certain points of the season not pushing harder when he could, not using visits properly, but even with all these mistakes, managed to pull a 34th ranked recruiting class according to tsweezy media. The Jewel of the class easily would be Jerel Campos, the 5* corner from St. Louis Mo. Aside from Campos, Weeze seemed to have a mind for defense as he was putting together a very good defense class in his first year. DT Alex Aviles, FS Nicolas Holland were notable additions among others on defense. He didn't forget offense though as he did add some offense weapons in RB Deshaun Whelan and WR Nick Norman. If he can take what he did at Arkansas, learn from it and build on it, he should do very well at Florida. But there is also the negative, that it is Florida. There is a lot more competition. FSU, Miami, UCF, USF, FIU, FAU... Then there is the outside competition who will try to recruit inside Florida. But We are going to stay positive and assume the New Florida coach is gonna build on his success. The only real question for him is what side of the ball does he try to build up first? No matter what side he works up first..it needs help. Coach Weeze Addressing the Gators following a Spring Game. Moving on from recruiting, We are going to take a look at projected week 1 starters for offense and defense. We will start with offense before moving onto the defense. These are of course projected starters and things can change between now and their week 1 game with Kent State. The offense is, perhaps only marginally, the better half of the team. The O Line will come in into the season as the most senior group on offense, with 2 of the 5 4* being found there. David Jones, the senior LT has a nasty attitude and is a pretty effective pass blocker, leads the unit. He will be entering the draft excited to play for the coach who lead the SEC last season in drafted players(7). But he is also looking to pass on the leadership role to rising star Time Grugier-Hill. The Sophomore Center, has pro ready strength and agility. His Pass blocking skills is already top notch. With some work on his run blocking, Tim could find himself as a top Center in his draft class. The weapons on offense are likely to be lead by WR Michael Burawa and Sam Haynes. The receivers for Florida over all is very weak. It lacks speed, and outside of its top two targets, it lacks excellent hands. Again, why the recruiting will matter so much more than the on field performance this season. Though the players may argue otherwise. Sam Haynes has excellent outside speed and decent strength, getting him into the open field will be a must. Creating those chances may be difficult however against some of the more proven defenses of the SEC however. One of the greater mysteries of the team is Tommy Murton. The 4* FB is a Bull. If Haynes can be the quick strike lightning so to speak, can Murton be the thunder? A bruiser and a short yard back that bodies the defenses and keeps the offense on the field in critical situations. Particularly if you can't trust your receivers to catch the ball. Regardless of his ability to run the ball, the FB is a fantastic blocker and his ability to open up running lanes and keeping the defense off the qb can't be understated. The defense, is hard to figure out, it is the more senior group, but in terms of raw skill, raw ability, it is less talented than the offense. Keenan Williams and Trayvon Johnson, the 4* ILB and CB1 respectfully, are the heart and soul of the defense. The front seven, only has two seniors, RE Manasseh Swoope, and OLB Rusney Carasiti. Both will generally play the right side. The strength of the defense is going to come in the backside. The secondary is essentially all seniors. While we can't say the defense has a ton of raw ability, we are hoping this unit has had time to develop skills and learn from experience that maybe they can use to take advantage of younger players. Either way, Florida is going to need the offense to score lots of points to ensure that it doesn't need to rely on the defense to win games. Going in Week to Week needing your Defense to come up big is not going to be the key to success, the offense needs to click early. Kent StateMarylandat Nebraskaat Texas A&MMissouriLSUKentuckyat Vanderbiltat TennesseeBYESouth CarolinaGeorgia (NS)BYEat Florida State With a look at the team done, here is a look at the 2022 schedule. Kent State and Maryland both at home before heading to a big road game against Nebraska before opening SEC play on the road against Texas A&M, a place Coach Weeze should already be familiar and should have some experience with preparing his team to play there. After that however, Mizzu, LSU and the heavy weight Kentucky all at home in the swamp. These games in particular are vitally important. 2 East games and a rivalry game against LSU. Vandy and Tennessee follow up on the road before the Gators can finally get a breather. SCAR at home, then the Gators head to Jacksonville to take on the Bulldogs for their annual rival showdown at the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party. This will also be the final SEC game of the season. The Gators would love to snatch a win here more than any other. After a bye, they finish off the regular season in the state capital against Florida State, but hopefully this won't be the final game of the season.
  10. @Piercewise1 We are keeping Larry danner. And cutting Montes, His number is 60825. not sure how his number got mixed up.
  11. Everytime I see one of these i die a little inside. Did I make a mistake leaving Arkansas for Florida? Arky keeps looking like it was on the up and up(especially with a better recruiting cycle) despite underperforming last season. Florida on the other hand looks like it’s gonna be a hard reset and a slow rebuild. It’s gonna be tapped just for 6 wins.
  12. The team i left who is now an AI is rated better than i am now. I went like 4-8. I believe the kids call that a pro-gamer move.
  13. HC of UF was quoted saying this following being asked about the list, “Failure State University is a top 25? Kentastrophe at number 2? It was like monkeys put together this list.”

  15. no no. misunderstanding. times union employs shitty ass writers. but i have assurances from Howard that he is in church every Sunday.

  17. Jaguars Coach Release Statement Jags Coach Comments on Reactions and Concerns Regarding Howard Coach Weeze Speak to the Media following the Draft. With the NFL Draft officially coming to a close Sunday evening, Coach Weeze, Headcoach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, met with the media to speak about the incoming draft class, but before the Q&A could get underway, Coach Weeze announced he would like to make a formal statement regarding second round pick Matt Howard, QB out of FSU. "I am aware, as well as ownership and the rest of the front office, of the recent rumors and issues regarding Matt Howard that surfaced. First, we want to assure our fans that we thoroughly did a deep dive on all of our draft picks. If we were unsure of the character of anybody, coach, player...local ticket sales rep, they would not be apart of this organization. We talked with Matt before and after selecting him and made clear our expectations for him. He knows the standards set before him by our organization as well as the NFL. So as for the rumors and supposed antics that might have happen during the pre-draft process, we won't comment on. As for his comments toward Dean Hammonds...Honestly, he can say whatever he wants to say as long as he shows up to camp with that same energy and puts in the work to back that attitude up. We discussed that during the process, you can have all the swagger you want...just be ready to back that [explicit] up. We are still excited for him, we thinking working for Connolly is going to be a positive influence and of course we can't wait to get our hands on him and see what he can really do." For more news and information from this weekends draft, including the rest of the interview with coach Weeze, be sure to check
  18. I'm still not sure which direction we are gonna go. at 19 i think the 18 previous picks are really gonna decide just what we do. There are several players we like, but who knows who is actually there. I wouldn't complain at 19 if we got the guy from usc however. I think he would be an excellent addition.
