  6. Denver is gonna be another tough match. But after that, we get to play Tennessee again in Nashville. Last time they took us down to a wire. So it’s a three game window for us that is going to be stressful

  8. #21 Kentucky Declawed! Florida Upsets SEC East Rival in the Swamp QB Morgan Neal 31 of 41 for 304 yards, 1 Int Florida hosted the Kentucky Wildcats in the Swamp Saturday afternoon. The Gators have officially entered must win mode for the remainder of the season following their 31-14 loss to LSU last week. In a game that was close going into the fourth, the melt down that followed was a gut punch that will haunt them the remainder of the season. So despite the lead this week going into the fourth, there was a nervous energy in the stadium as the crowd, players and coaches held their breath until the clock read 00:00. When it did how ever... The collective euphoria that could be felt around the stadium was unreal. Not only had the Gators snapped a five game losing streak, not only had the Gators kept their slim Bowl hopes alive, not only had the Gators finally managed a SEC win, they did it against a ranked rival. The 20-7 win over #21 ranked Kentucky was desperately needed, and could very well be the momentum change that salvages the season for a team that is ranked near the bottom of college football. That statement can not be under stated. The Florida Gators are ranked near the bottom in college football. The first four weeks, the Gators averaged 10 PPG. 10. The last three weeks, the Gators almost double that. The Passing game, which you can say is the "strength" of the offense averaged 167.3 YPG. Last three weeks, 286. The rushing attack is a little hard to look at because of one statistical outlier against Maryland in which the team rushed for 209 yards, but if you take that one out, the Gators have slightly increased over the last three weeks from 93 to 97 YPG. One thing is clear though concerning the running game and it is that its wildly inconsistent, though it seems to be finding some traction as the season has gone on. So why are we saying all of this? what does any of this have to do with Kentucky? This is a team that has struggled mightily. But since the beat down against TAMU, a constant thing said about Florida is, "they look like they are starting to put it together." "Florida looks like they are starting to figure it out". Perhaps Florida has finally managed to figure it out. Offensively, this is the best showing since Week 2. This is the first time they have Rushed over a hundred yards since playing Maryland, and the best Game of the season in terms of passing yards. As a side note, they also managed to double their Field goal Attempts, as well as how many they made. In the coming days, we will have to ask the staff why did it take them so long to find what potentially is the best way to run the offense, but for now lets just enjoy the moment. Morgan Neal came out with a season high 304 yards passing. While he didn't manage to find the endzone, his passing attack set up the running backs so that they could punch it in a few times, as well as a couple chip shot field goals from Derrick Gassol, which have been just as rare as Touchdowns. A Nod to the Kentucky Defense however as they did manage to sack Neal twice, only the third team this season to sack him, and only the second to sack him more than once. The pressure and good coverage caused Neal to throw an Interception. Ryan Bowman, Who has been the starting Running Back since week 5, had his first career 100 rushing yard day. He has slowly been getting better on the ground as the staff has figured out his running style better, but he has also been a huge bright spot in the passing game. In three weeks he has managed to get 145 yards off of 19 receptions. If there was any question about whether or not to go back to Sam Hayes, I think Bowman solidified his starting role for the rest of the season, with Hayes giving him breathers. The Best Player however over the last two weeks has easily been Michael Burawa. Against Kentucky he caught 9 balls off 13 targets for 125 yards. Last week he was 6 of 6 for 123 yards. 248 yards of his 513 yards came in the last two weeks. The coaches need to find a way to get him into the endzone, however his burst of production has been nothing short of a god send for a struggling offense. RB Zach Parnell 9 attempts for 105 yards, 1 TD, 1 reception for 12 yards. As standup as the offense was, the Defense should get all the credit for this win. After all the offense still only scored 20 points. What allowed them to win with 20 points is a defense holding Kentucky to 7. This impressive display from the defense hasn't been seen since week 1 against Kent State in the 14-9 win. The Last two weeks, Florida Played the two teams who will probably be playing in the SEC Championship and they played them surprisingly well. They Held the then ranked #5 team 10 point difference, then went into the 4th quarter last week only down by seven against LSU. These have been the only two teams that have been able to throw on them, with most teams struggling to pass consistently. The downside to this is most teams haven't had a need to past well to still score. Michael Oliveros, the Kentucky QB, was a miserable 8 for 20(40%) for only 90 yards and an interception. It was great to see the secondary come back out an shut down a QB after the last two weeks. The Run game however continue to be what it has been. Bad. Zach Parnell easily got 105 yards off only 9 attempts. His back up, Kelvin Dupree, managed 86 yards off 19 attempts. This isn't as bad as it has been, but still not what we want to see. But, seeing as the team bent but didn't break, we can be more forgiving this week. Next week however, they are gonna need to be careful. On the road against Vandy, who had their own big win against SCAR, the defense is going to need to take every lesson they learned this week and the last couple, and take it with them into next week. Its a winnable game, but as we have seen, Florida hasn't played up to its potential too many times this season. The far more exciting thing about this game is how it might affect recruiting. Florida has found itself trying to lock down several different targets, the most important being Colt McIntyre. McIntyre, Who Florida has been one of his top program choices all season, has recently been announced as an Elite 11 Final invitee. “Colt McIntyre, from Jacksonville, Florida. He’s got a shot at being the best arm in the class. I’d put him right up there with Dick Richards in just pure, unadulterated arm talent. Needs to work on consistency, but man with the right coaching, enough practice, McIntyre, watch out for this kid in Nashville. Can’t wait to see his growth inbetween events.”[Elite 11 SE article]. Landing such a viable target would do wonders for the program moving forward, especially with the QB position being in question next season. A Game like this might be the tipping point the Gators need to lock up Colt, as well as several other big names on their board. The Gators will be on the road the next two weeks, both games being incredibly important. Next week is Vandy, then against rival Tennessee. Tennessee beat Mizzu this weak, will be looking to finish out the season unbeaten. Florida, if they can keep improving, could potentially play spoiler and who better to play spoiler against than Tennessee? Either way both Games will be tough for a team who is now 2-5 on the season, and just looking to hang on to sneak into a bowl game.
  9. Just something I would like to add about the FL V LSU game, Coming into that game, Florida had allowed only 1 sack on the season, which came against their loss against NEB. Florida the last two weeks has drastically improved their run defense, against arguably the two toughest teams they've played to date. The passing game has also been much better the last two weeks. in the first 4 weeks, FL threw for over 200 yards once, last two weeks they've thrown over 270 back to back.
  10. Why doesn’t Florida have any votes?
  11. I keep waiting for the browns to fall apart but they keep wining. AFC is a little scary. I believe we have 3 unbeaten teams left
  12. Melt Down in College Station Florida Falls to Texas A&M 43-3. Kyle Field under the lights as Gators lose 3 in a Row. The Gators opened their SEC play on the road against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies came into Saturday night's game as the slight favorite to win, and they took that personally. The Gator Offense was non-existent for the second week in a row as Florida failed to find the endzone. They did at least manage to kick a Field Goal this week, as to not be completely shut out. Though the 3 consolation points will be be questioned by the fans as it came late in the 4th quarter. Some fans will want to know why to coach didn't just go for broke and try to get a touchdown. The defense for the second week in a row could not keep the opponent off the board, and allowed a season high 426 yards rushing. The more appalling stat however is the 74-3 point differential the last two weeks. QB Morgan Neal, 18 of 38 for 163 yards, 0 TDs, 2 Ints, 9 Rushes for 35 yards. The Gators have consistently struggled this season on offense. The Passing game, lead by senior QB Morgan Neal, has struggled. The Pass catchers at receivers are top heavy. Once you get past those top two targets, it has been difficult for Neal to find a reliable target. But even Micheal Burawa, WR1, and the best pass catcher with 66%(Min. 9 Targets), has struggled to be reliable. 19 Catches on 29 Targets, and 181 Yards on the season, has struggled to find ways to get Burawa open. Saturday he was only 4 of 8 targets for 38 yards, week before 5 of 8 for 56 yards. After the game coach Weeze spoke about how he and his staff were going to reevaluate and have to come up with a new plan for his receivers. They tried something new this week and it didn't work. "We tried changing things up, we wanted to spread the formation out and get Neal more involved on the run game. We feel he did a decent enough job running the ball today, but the passes just weren't there to be made. He is too talented a passer for these kind of passing numbers the last couple weeks, so it is on us[the staff] to figure out how to scheme players open." When asked if we would see a shake up or if more changes were to come, he was slow to respond, but eventually answered. "I don't think it would be too hard to imagine changing things up. What we are doing obviously isn't working. We have talent all over the roster, its just about getting creative and seeing what we can do to help the team as a whole." Neal might have had an decent day for a QB who isn't asked to run very often, but Sam Haynes struggled with a miserable 26 yards on the game. Mason Matthews, his backup didn't fare much better with 17 yards to round out the team total 78 yards. The second consecutive week that the team has rushed for less than 100 yards as a unit, only rushing for 84 last week against Nebraska. Could we see a change at running back moving forward? During camp, running back was a heavily rotated position and we saw several players start. The last two weeks we've seen a combined 3.2 YPC average for Haynes, which maybe would be ok if he was a power back that was going to beat you over and over again, however Haynes gift is with his speed, and it just hasn't been there. This will be an area to watch over the next week has the Gators get ready for the Tigers of Missouri. The Florida Offense averages 10 PPG so far this season over four games. As bleak as some things have seen so far this season however for one of the worst offenses in football, there is one VERY bright note that we would be remiss if we didn't mention. It would be disrespectful. The Florida Gators have given up only one Sack this season. One. The Same team is also the only team that has prevented them from getting a sack, Nebraska. Florida's streaked continued Saturday night as the unit stonewalled the Aggies passrush as it failed to find Morgan on 38 drop backs. So while there is a lot that can be said about the weapons on this team, the O-line this season in pass protection has been top notch in keeping Neal off the ground for 150 of his 151 pass attempts. QB Jordan Peterson 12 of 19 for 167 yards, 4 TDs, 0 Ints, 31 Rushes for 237 yards 1 TD, 1 Fum. Florida's defense by the end of the game against Texas A&M looked exhausted. It looked like a team who had run a marathon. While A&M only ran 76 plays vs Florida's 67, 75% of Texas A&M offensive playcalls were run plays. They gas lit the defense and continued to pour gasoline on the fire until the final whistle. 57 Rushing attempts, for 426 yards(7.5YPC), and 2 TDs. On the rare occasions Peterson actually remembered he could throw the ball, it was almost a guaranteed completion from the defense being so spent. While Ranked as one of the worst rushing defenses, the Florida Pass defense has ranked in the top 15 in the country. Without any answers to the run game however, it was just too gassed to stop the passes which unfortunately lead to the majority of their touchdowns. Jordan Peterson was an all-star. If he has dreams of playing at the next level and needed a highlight real, he got it. 12 of 19, he only threw for 167 yards but he didn't need to throw because he was doing it all with his legs. He ran a track meet Saturday night, rushing 31 times for 237 yards by himself. Florida has a made a few personnel changes upfront to help with the run, but it clearly hasn't been enough. Peterson managed to find the endzone with his legs as well 1 time to add to the four he threw. Running back Gehrig Okwara also had a day running 21 times for 162 yards and a touchdown. The defense might be what it is for the season. The biggest solution to the defensive woes at this point might be the offense. If the offense can find ways to score points and keep control of the ball, keeping the defense off the field and allowing them to rest, we might see a increase in their production. Getting back on track however does not get any easier this week as the Gators return home after a two week stint on the road. This week they get to hoist the Missouri Tigers. The Tigers are coming in with Aaron Leamon as the leading passer in the SEC(1,271 yards). He of course is passing to the SEC leading receiver Jakeem Erlin(492 yards). The struggling defense will have their hands full dealing with those two. But if the coaching staff can find the schematic changes they were talking about, It is possible that the Gators could pull off a major upset and win a major victory against the number 1 team in the SEC East.
  13. Y’all ready to see Josh Allen sack Josh Allen?
  14. Part 2: Recruiting is heating up. We are starting to see some schools pull away on certain recruits, on others, we are seeing competitions heat up and get more intense. we are back for Part two! of recruit tweets! We have some really good ones for this installment. The Strong Favorite to commit to Tennessee had some words. Maybe he is getting cold feet and deciding he doesn't wanna be stuck in Tennessee? Begging for someone to come in and save him. But Moran isn't the only Tennessee recruit making noise out on the twitterverse, Roger London, a highly desired recruit, putting out there that he was still open for business. But I have to imagine the Recruiting staff at Tennessee have different plans. They are going to be doing whatever they can to officially lock him down. Tulane had some happy news. A major big time lock down in Jose Hernandez. The GreenWave are going to be ecstatic to lock down such a major target. FSU has had a tough year. Losing the parodical son in Matt Howard last year to the draft, however perhaps they found someone who could be the second coming. Brad Pogue seems to have already embraced his new home with glee and embodied the spirit of Matt Howard. The Aggies put a 43-3 beat down on the University Florida this past Saturday at College station. It was enough to be the final bullet in Juan Lopez recruiting. The aggies won two major victories this weekend. Florida on the other hand, lost twice. What better way to announce your intent on heading to West Virginia than to tweet out a little Country Roads by John Denver. Thats it for this Volume of Recruit Tweets! Comeback soon for another exciting adventure of recruit tweets. If you happen to see any exciting or news worthy tweets, be sure to send them in and maybe they will get posted in the next volume of Recruit Tweets!
  15. Around the country, schools are are competing hard on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Between game days however, the coaching staffs are still fighting just as hard even if the rest of the team isn't on the field. High school kids all around the country are getting phone calls, visits, and E-mails from coaches trying to convince these kids to become the future stars of their programs. A few weeks into the season, we are starting to see a few recruits start to commit. Some, like Baylors new OLB, kept it short and sweet. A simple Tweet alerted the Baylor faithful of his decision to Join the Gold and Green in Texas. Others, like the OL from Maryland, Shawn Johnson, were loud and boastful! Full of personality and promise, this firecracker is sure to be a handful on and off the field for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Fans love to see this high energy...but your play better back it up, because your rival fans have even better memories and will for sure be the first ones to bring it up should you not live up to the hype Mr Johnson. Others like to keep it classy and professional. But here we see that its not only the school that some of these recruits are committing to. Its the coaches. Juan Corral, a top notch TE prospect, announced his intentions to head to West Virginia next fall, but also announced he only wanted to play for Coach Smackemz. Should the coach leave the coach and go else where, you almost wonder if the player will follow. Of course we are seeing more than just commitment tweets from recruits. We are seeing recruits post their thoughts and feelings about schools in real time as things happen and change. Some are important... Some are a little less important... There is still plenty of season left, lots of recruiting, and plenty of time for these star athletes to post their thoughts on the ever evolving state of the college football state. Comeback soon for Volume 2 where I will have more time to type something up, games will have been posted so i can be sassier with my tweets, and possibly see several more commits.
