  1. Gators Opening Play in the Swamp Gators to Host the FIU Panthers Florida expects a sold out crowd as they host FIU. Florida is returning home for the first time this season. After a huge week 1 win on the road in Death Valley, the Gators had week 2 off. Flying high on emotion, the team could not wait to get back out on the field and keep the momentum going. The question now going into week 3, after having a week off, can the coaches keep that energy up and keep the team focused on a much lesser opponent albeit just as an important one? Last season Florida was 1-3 vs out of conference opponents. That 1-3 really haunted them down the stretch as Florida missed out on a bowl game. The team has a much easier schedule in out of conference play this season. Clemson was one of the hardest opponents, with FSU probably the hardest opponent out of conference if not on the schedule. A couple good wins out of conference, and a few surprise wins in SEC play this season could have a very different ending. But how likely is a win over Florida International? FIU Sr QB Mike Lucroy 41 of 59 for 451 yards, 4 TD, 0 Int The Panthers currently are 1-1 on the season. They are being led by senior QB Mike Lucroy who has completed 41 of 59 passes for 451 yards, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. While by no means is he having an award winning season up to this point, he has shown he can be dangerous and that he can be efficient. He has the potential to carve up the Florida Secondary, who struggled with Clemson's Palardy. They allowed 311 yards and 2 touchdowns. They did step up big toward the end of the game and came away with 2 interceptions. However if the coaches could have it their way, they wouldn't need those turnovers to put FIU away. They've had a week to work on their defense, and coach weeze is hoping for a much more efficient effort from the defense. FIU however could be a tough opponent as they run a very balanced attack and have given their last two opponents fits. They will be a far more challenging opponent for the Dline who essentially blanked Clemson run game. FIU is far more committed and seem to have better options in the back field as well as receivers. But all is not dark. Florida came out with a strong rushing game against Clemson. FIU looks to have a worse run defense. That alone could be a huge difference maker. If Florida won't let FIU have their QB on the field, and burn up some clock, it could come away with another strong victory. On the whole, FIU Run defense does not look very tough, and their pass defense has some holes as well. While the passing game is far from a strength for Florida, this defense is far weaker than what they saw against Clemson. This should give Kelly a chance to make some plays down the field and gain some experience and confidence before opening SEC play against Tennessee. Looking at a side by side comparison(we divided FIU total stats by 2 to get a more comparable number) FIU offense has for sure been more productive. 26 points a game is going to be a tough challenge when They've been running a really balanced attack. If florida can't shut down their rushing attack, their entire game plan could backfire. Taking a look at defense however, it entirely favors Florida. While FIU is scoring 26 points a game, they are also allowing just shy of 26 points a game. They've also allowed almost 335 yards a game and 96 yards of rushing. We expect that number to increase significantly after Saturday. Florida will be the first team they played that really pushes the rushing attack. 5* QB Maximillian Howard Commits to Florida! The players might have had a week off, but the coaching staff remained busier than ever. Florida Headcoach, Coach Weeze, spent his time on the road this past week trying to round of some signatures and boy did he manage to land a whale. Max Howard, Brother of NFL and infamous FSU QB Matt Howard, took his name out of the recruiting circus with a commit to Florida. His brother went to Twitter minutes after the announcement saying "My Boy! you are gonna look ugly as hell in that Orange and Blue, but you've always been the ugly one! Congrats little bro, can't wait to watch you spank the SEC and come join me in the NFL." Aside from him, a number of Florida players posted responses to the news offering welcomes and congrats. Kelvin Williams, a freshman OG, stated "Oh we are gonna be dangerous". Freshman QB Kevin Jones sent out "Congrats big guy, but don't expect to be starting next season, that job is mine!" Jones was a 4* QB who signed at the end of last season. Florida recruiting opened up with a bang. "We aren't done yet, we expect a few more big names to come our way." Coach Weeze told media after the announcement of Howard.
  2. "That Gator Grit" Florida Earns Week One Win With Physical Play. Jr RB Ryan Bowman, 18 Attempts for 148 yards, 1 Touchdown, 1 reception for 9 yards. Week 1 is here! The long off season is finally over, and the 2023 season finally opens up for the Gators. The Gators open the season in Clemson South Carolina against the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers have a new man at the helm in Spoof who wanted to see his team earn him his first career win, while the more seasoned Gator coach, Weeze, wanted to see his team get off to the right start and find some momentum before the open SEC play. "Last year was my first year at Florida, and the season got off to a rough start. We were lucky to beat Kent State, then dropped a close one to Maryland, and it took us a few games to really find our groove. We can't afford that this year. Everyone on the coaching staff, and the players know these first few games are vital. The season won't be getting easier and we have to take advantage of some early season success." That was coach Weeze in his pregame press conference talking about how vital it is for his team to come out early and win this tough one on the road. Last season, The Gators beat Kent State 14-9, before going on a 5 game losing streak. During those 5 games, they had a two week span where they scored a total of 3 points. Clemson is a young, hungry team full of potential and youth who wanted to take advantage of a rebuilding Florida unit who lost a lot of big time play makers. Unfortunately for Clemson, the most important playmaker didn't leave and gave Florida the spark they needed. 2nd Year Gator Headcoach, Weeze. That Florida offense had ALOT of questions coming into this season. Its safe to say fans and coaches alike were a little nervous how the offense was going to look when the lights went on for real. The offense heard all of the criticisms. The most critical has probably been their own coach who has publicly demanded more from his players as well as his staff. "If we wanna change the culture we have to put in the work to do it". The offense answered the call with some big time plays. Florida Exploded with offense at pivotal moments and kept the game close. They totaled 437 yards of total offense with 313 yards of that being on the ground. Lead by Junior Runningback Ryan Bowman, the Gators physically beat the Clemson defense all game long, patiently waiting for holes to open up and quick strikes to keep them on their heels. Bowman(18 attmpts for 148yds) is without argument they offensive player of the game, but he wasn't alone in his career day. Mason Matthews ran for 72 yards on 10 carries. Big Tommy Murton had 45 yards on 8 carries and QB Shareece Kelly also had a solid game with 50 yards on 16 carries. All four players had career games today. More importantly however, they kept drives alive. They found ways to score. They kept the ball out of the dangerous Tony Palardy hands, who was having a game of his own. The Runningback room was very active on the ground as well as in the passing game, with the group totaling 8 targets between 3 different players. An interesting fun fact since we are celebrating the play of the runningbacks, Florida last season were 4-1 when they rushed for more than a hundred yards. The one game they lost, was the forementioned 28-23 lost to Maryland. Maryland forced a very timely pick six that made the difference. Sr QB Tony Palardy, 28 completions on 54 attempts for 311 yards, 2 Touchdowns, 2 INT While the Offense came out in great fashion, we would be remiss if we didn't praise the defense for their stellar play. While the defense didn't have as much turnover as the offense did, they did lose some important players. Two major corners graduated with 2 starting safeties gone as well. That is a lot of shake up for a group that was easily the best on the field for Florida. That being said, there was still plenty of starting experience in the secondary. Chris Nieves who spent the majority of time last season playing at corner and special teams, returned to his original position with Gerald Jefferson gone. Moxey and Capela both saw plenty of playing time last season on rotation before Nieves won the 3rd CB role. The two spent the final stretch of the season playing relief and Sharing 4th CB duties. They would all play a major role today as they found themselves challenged early and often by the Clemson stud, Tony Palardy. Palardy threw for 311 yards and two touchdowns against the Gator defense. But was also sacked twice, and picked off twice as well. He gave the Gators staff fits all day however as he would complete a 53 yard pass for a touchdown early on that put Clemson up. He continued to make the Gators sweat all game long with great passes that helped keep Clemson in the game. Unfortunately for him and the Clemson faithful, the defense came away with two interceptions, one of those came late in the game which help seal the win for Florida. The D-Line also played a role today in keeping Clemson off the board. The Defensiveline manage to keep Palardy from getting too comfortable and were able to bring him down twice behind the line. They also manage to hold the runningbacks to 33 yards of offense. Admittedly 12 runs isnt a huge sample size to see how well they've truly grown from last season(where they were one of the worst units in the country against the run), but in those 12 attempts, they only allowed 2.75 yards a carry and that speaks volume. Some might argue their Runningback group isn't that great, but all the more reason that stat is impressive. Good units don't let bad groups have good games. If the defense can continue to tighten up, and continue to grow, this potentially could be an unexpected "dangerous" team to play in the SEC. They have a tough test against Brandon Savage and his Tennessee Volunteers in a couple weeks, but this is College football. Always expect the unexpected. Florida 23, Clemson 20. The Headcoach of the Florida Gators were all smiles following the game. In his press conference, he continued to beam and give praises to his team. "How about that Gator Grit?" Love these guys and proud of the way they put it all together. There were plenty of moments out there today that these guys could have lost it, but they continued to play hard and continue to support each other. When the defense gave one up, the offense came in and got it back. We had those fumbles which easily could have been the game...and the defense held up strong. Lets not forget the special teams getting those 3 field goals, and punting the ball deep when we needed them to." Florida did indeed play a team game, and got a team win. Clemson was a tough test but the road does not get any easier. Tennessee, FSU, UGA and Kentucky are all very nasty opponents they have on their schedule. #21 Kentucky was surprised in the swamp last season, so you know they are waiting to even the score when the Gators come into town. UGA is a big rival game in Jacksonville that is always going to be ugly, but the bulldogs seem to have figure themselves out and could be the Division champ when the season is done. So what does all this mean? The rest of the conference just started paying a little closer attention. Florida just walked into a very dangerous stadium against a good team and came away as the winners. They are not a team to overlook despite what some early season pundits believed. They showed they have that Grit and can get bogged down in a dog fight. furthermore they showed they can walk away as winners. This could be a very exciting season, and we have a lot to look forward to. Last year, the season opener was a win. But you walked away with a lump in your throat nervous about the season to come. This win..is an entirely different feeling. You start to believe that Florida could really surprise some people and earn a bowl bid. They have a long way to go, and Recruiting is a must this season. They have to pull in a class just as good as they did last season to get to a place you can start feeling comfortable about the direction of the team. The Gators are off next week, but return week 3 to open the season at home against FIU. The Gators are hoping they can use FIU as a tune up game as they get ready for SEC play the following Week where they will host the Volunteers. But for now, the team will celebrate their big win and enjoy the feeling before getting back to work on Monday for the season to come.
  3. im sure it is, but if it isn't too late, Week 1 BYU@Florida @Curby4
  4. Imagine how good they would be looking if I had recruited a second year in a row my goal this year is to finish in the middle. A couple surprise wins and beat the teams I’m suppose to. Unlike last season
  5. Gators Spring Practice Kicks Off Practices Spark Concern about upcoming Season. 2nd Year Head Coach Weeze(4-8) Observing Practice The Florida Gator Football team began its springtime practice this past week and according to insiders, there is cause to worry about the up coming season. Which is not what Gator faithful want to here following last season. The Gators went 4-8 in coach Weeze first season, which includes a 1-5 start on the season, in which they barely beat Kent State, lost a very winnable game at home to Maryland, shut out against Nebraska and was only able to score 3 points against Texas A&M. The fans are hoping to see an improvement in Coach Weeze second year. However, rumblings from people inside the building states the early work in spring practices have not been promising. Coach Weeze working with Fr QB Kevin Jones. Offense: In short, the offense is struggling to find any sort of rhythm and consistency. This is however, not entirely unexpected. The offense is seeing a lot of change over. A lot of starters have either graduated or will be replaced by new players. Ryan Bowman (Jr RB) and Johnathan King (Sr TE) are the only two skilled players returning for the coming season. The O-line is seeing 3 new starters. For a unit that was sneaky good last season, this could be a big deal. Mostly because who the starting QB is going to be is very Unclear. The Job is expected to go to Senior Shareece Kelly. However that could quickly changed as he was "benched" during a team practice as he "looked like he had no idea what play he was running." Over all he is failing to look like the starter. This could open the door for the Freshman, Kevin Jones to fight for the starting Job. However Matt Goldman(Jr) and Alberto Perez(Sr) are also fighting for the same job. The Gators coaching staff recognized the major shift in personnel at the end of the season and spoke publicly that they are reviewing not only game tape, but practice tape to try and decide the next step. The coaching staff stated on several occasions since then that the offense is going to look very different than it did last season. Coach Weeze spoke to not only the players going through growing pains, he stated he and his staff also went through them as well. Trying to find a balance with the offense play calling, and how aggressive he could be with the current state of the defense. "I know we aren't expected to make a serious run this season, but these young men know the level of expectation i have, They know we are all aiming to push for an SEC East title. We trust in each other and have faith in the man next to us." Defense: The Defense, much like the offense, is seeing a lot of change. The one true blessing this season is Linebacker Keenan Williams. The Senior decided to come back for one more season despite possibly being a first round player. The QB on defense, the ILB was by far the best player on defense last season, and probably one of the best in the SEC. However Williams can not play all 11 positions. The front Seven as a whole, is young or inexperienced. DE Brandon Martin redshirted last year and could get some playing time this season, however he might find it harder to get on the field as the unit, despite its inexperienced, the unit does look more capable than it did last season. The hope is the run defense takes a step up with the interior of the Dline growing up some. But the edges, and the outside backer positions are still pretty big question marks to watch. The secondary is in an off place as it probably is going to take a step back, but still should be the strength of the defense. However they should be challenged a lot more than last season if the run defense takes the step forward everyone is hoping it did. Darrel Capela is the only Corner returning this season, with the Safety positions returning last years starter. Still, the drop off in the other two corner positions should be minimal. Or so coaches and fans hope. There is still a lot of time before the college season kicks off, so gators still have time to figure some things out. However, they need to get a move on and figure it out quickly to give some perspective starters a chance to really step into the role and figure out how to work with the man next to him. The coaches also need time to figure out the strength of each side of the ball with the starters in place. But no matter what, we are all hoping for the best and looking forward to a great season!

  10. Wild Card Magic Two High Powered Offenses Explode During Wild Card Weekend. TE George Devoe 7 catches on 8 targets for 100 yards, 1 touchdown Wild Card weekend has come and gone, and the first wave of teams will bitterly watch the rest of the season from their couch. The High powered Jaguars offense would face off against an explosive Raiders team that have two of the league's best receivers who lead in reception yards, as well as a top 5 QB in passing yards. None of the jaguars receivers were in the top 5, however Connolly, who didn't play the final week of the season, was one of the best passers in the league. He was also great at passing the ball around the yard as the Jaguars had 3 receivers finish over 1300 yards on the season, and all 3 finish with double digit TD receptions. Connolly, the ten year veteran, finished the season with over 5300 yards through the air, 48 passing touchdowns, and just shy of a 70% completion percentage. When asked about his season leading up to the Wildcard matchup with the Raiders, he had some strong feelings. "I understand the strategy to sit and rest me, give the rookie(Matt Howard) a chance to show what he has learned over the season... but damn if it doesn't piss me off. So close to 50 Touchdowns this season." He said laughing with the media. This game was a fun and explosive back and forth game where we saw more total touchdowns than punts. Both teams combined for 13 Touchdowns scored on the afternoon, with 3 field goals sprinkled in. QB James Hixon, 27 of 40, for 427 yards, 5 Touchdowns. The Raiders made their second visit to Jacksonville this season after getting completely destroyed the first time around. The Jaguars Shut out the Vegas Raiders 42-0. Raiders QB James Hixon threw for over 300 yards, but the defense still manage to hold him off the board, thanks to the help of 2 turnovers. Connolly, 466 yards and 4 TDs, conversely had his best game of the season up to that point( he would have a new season high by 1 yard the following week.) Both these teams knew they could be productive, but it was going to come down to who could be the most efficient. You could say the Raiders came out strong and caught the Jacksonville defense napping. The Jaguars, who allowed only 15.1 points a game during the regular season, allowed the Raiders to score 48 points. If these young cats needed a reminder that playoff football was different, and they were gonna have to step up their game, this was it. The defense allowed 488 total yards on offense, including 5 passing touchdowns and no turnovers from Hixon. This, with a 68% passing completion, should be enough to win the game and advance to the next round. If only it wasn't the Jaguars they were playing. QB Steven Connolly 35 of 49 for 538 yards, 7 Touchdowns. Despite the lack luster performance by the Jacksonville defense(Kudos to the Raiders coaching staff), Connolly continued to come off the bench and go toe-to-toe with whatever the Raiders did. After finishing the first half 23-10, the Jaguars came out in the second half just clawing their way back. Putting the season on the back of their MVP, Connolly lead the team to an early 4th quarter comeback where they never relinquished the lead for the rest of the game. The Jaguars had 3 receivers go over 100 yards, and all three had touchdowns. Two of those receivers included RB Stephen Tabbert(7 of 7 for 108 yards, 2TD) and TE George Devoe (7 of 8 for 100 yards, 1 TD). The receiver of the game however, despite Charles Brown's (8 of 13 for 174 Yards, 1 TD) performance, has to be Charles Grady. 9 of 10 for 82 yards and 3 Touchdown catches. The Jaguars would end the game 58-46, in probably the most exciting game(in this unbiased journalist opinion anyway) of the weekend. The Jaguars will host Cincinnati this weekend who defeated the Browns 31-13. This will be the first time these two teams meet this season. The Bengals ended the season 13-4, and coached by Ezaco.

  15. Looking Back... Defensive Effort Falls Short Offense Couldn't Take Advantage of Defensive Takeaways UGA tops Florida in 21-16 Slug Fest A bitter loss for the Florida Gators last Saturday as they fell to SEC East Rival Georgia 21-16 in Jacksonville for the world's largest cocktail party. The Defense Had itself a day forcing turnovers and getting after Georgia QB Will Outman. Outman was Sacked once, and threw three picks to the Florida defense. The defense also managed to force a fumble from WR Elliot Delabar though it failed to recover it. Outman also managed just over 52% of his passes on the day. They did let the Georgia offense run for 173 yards, but in a bend but don't break mentality, the runningbacks failed to score. So how did they fail to secure the win in Jacksonville? In short, Georgia showed why they are considered the best defense in the SEC. Senior QB Morgan Neal managed just under 60% competitions and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions, but for all their limited success in the air, the run game just was non existent. 51 yards on the ground from Bowman, and 16 from Haynes. Just not enough to help keep drives alive and keep the new found Georgia offense off the field. The nail in the coffin was the outlandish performance by Georgia WR Georges Garcia. He was targeted 9 times, and only manage to catch three of those. But when he did manage to catch the ball, he exploded. 3 receptions for 114 yards and 3 Touchdown. Its probably safe to say, Georgia does not win without his contribution. Where we Are... Kevin Moore, 4* CB, North Miami FL Week 13 is a bye-week for the Gators. The players might have Saturday off, but the coaches continued to stay busy as they watched FSU and prepared for their instate rival. But more importantly for this program, the Coaches also spent the week hitting the recruiting trail. They were rewarded with some top talent to help infuse this team in the seasons to come. Forename Surname Stars Pos City St Defense Joseph Kloeckner 4* DE Ft Myers FL Arnold Mullins 4* OLB Jacksonville FL Edgar Mendoza 4* CB Davenport FL Kevin Moore 4* CB N. Miami FL John Lee 4* FS N. Olmsted OH Offense Kevin Jones 4* QB Alabaster AL Kelvin Williams 4* OG Lakeland FL Frederick Cook 3* C Davenport FL NCAA Rank: 8th, Conference Rank: 2nd Last season Coach Weeze brought in a lot of defensive talent for the Razorback. With a background as a defensive coach, he has made it known he wants to have a strong defense to help give his offense as many chances as they can get. Given the over all performance of the defense this season, it was a priority to bring in some top talent and the Gators coaching staff delivered. Defensively, the Gators struggled with the run. That is being nice about it. The first four games, they gave up 1220 yards on the ground. The first two players to sign their commitment to UF, Joseph Kloeckner and Arnold Mullins, should help solidify that front seven and slow down their opponents next season. Joseph Kloeckner should be joined by current Fr Brandon Martin on the opposite side. The Freshman DE was redshirted this season. Mullins, Will be joining an OLB room that will be getting thin, but also struggled. Joining Keenan Williams in the middle and Kendrick Locke on the opposite side, hopefully the LB unit takes a major step forward next season. The strength of the defensive has been the secondary. They've been one of the top units not only in the SEC, but the NCAA. Coach Weeze has only made it better with the three additions he has made so far. Trayvonn Johnson will be leaving at the end of this season, hopefully to have a very successful NFL career, but he will be replaced by a duo of 4* corners. Starting FS Auden Busenitz will also be leaving, only to be replaced by Ohio born John Lee. The Gators took a major punch in the gut when they loss a coin flip commitment to Colt McIntrye. They thought for sure they had him locked down, and a win over then #21 Kentucky only it made all the more certain, only to be suckered punch by FSU as they landed potentially one of the best QBs in the class. But the coaching staff went back to work to find a replacement for Morgan Neal who will be leaving at the end of the Season. Albaster Alabama is where they found the replacement. Kevin Jones, 4* QB is the future leader of this offense. While he isn't the same as Mcintyre, he should be a excellent addition to Coach Weeze first recruiting class. The team needs to find a few targets to throw to, but they have the QB figured out. Beefing up, and adding talent to the line, the Gators see Kelvin Williams and Fred Cook. Both future starters on the line. Looking Ahead... Florida State is the 12th ranked in the ACC in points, 11th ranked in total yards in the ACC, 13th ranked in rushing, and 7th ranked in Passing. Offensively, the Gators are very similar in rankings in their own conference. 8th in points, 10th in total yards, 11th in passing and 6th in rushing. Both teams are toward the bottom in total offense, and rely heavily on one part of the offense, and struggle with the other. While this game is far more important for the Seminoles, whose bowl hopes are still alive, the Gators come into this game with little to play for...however that doesn't mean this game isn't important. A battle between two major programs in the state, a win by either can help with recruiting in the long run. In a rivalry game, bragging rights between fans is always important, but for perspective recruits, seeing who can beat who can help make it easier to decide which team has the better prospect in the long run. A win for Florida can also spoil the season for FSU and help ensure they won't see a post season. Florida will be at a disadvantage though, and a win will be hard fought and well deserved. They will be playing on the road in a loud environment. The defense will need to show up and play sharp. So far, if a team has scored more than 9 points, they have beaten the Gators. The offense also needs to fire on all cylinders and make up for the poor performance last week against the Bulldogs. They can't let themselves be swept by all their rivals this season. No matter what though things are looking to be really exciting next week in Tallanasty. For the last time this season, Go Gators!
  16. This was a fantastic listen and lasted almost long enough for me to get home from work. Good job!
  17. Florida Gators are why i have a drinking problem
  18. Thank you! I wanted to try a new format for how I did media since it has been a couple weeks. I really liked it and might carry this over into next season. It’s easier now to give better in-depth analysis with the stats for everyone on the interface. I keep my own but to compare with everyone else like I did. I’d like to try conference media pieces here and there next season as well
  19. What Was... Seniors Go out On Top: Gators Stonewall Gamecocks 31-7 in Final Home Game Gators win big over Gamecocks in final home game in Gainesville. Seniors Gathered together at the fifty yard line and huddled together at the end of their final home game. A game that saw a big win over one of the SEC most frustrating teams. The 5-4 South Carolina Gamecocks have played spoiler several times this season and were looking to do it again Friday night against a Florida team that is in survival mode. While it wasn't always pretty, the Seniors and the rest of the orange and blue fought hard to secure the final home win in Gainesville. The 31-7 Win over the gamecocks ensured their bowl hopes stay alive for another week. QB Morgan Neal 23 of 37 for 172 yards and 3 Int, 1 Att for 5 yards and 1 TD The win wasn't pretty. Senior QB Morgan Neal turned the ball over 3 times Friday night. While it was not his worst showing as far as competitions(23 of 37, 62%) and yards(172 yards) were concerned, it was his worst game by far as protecting the ball. This includes coming off a terrible game a week before against the SEC East favorite Tennessee. The Gamecocks have had a strong secondary all season, and are one of the best as far as forcing turnovers. However the Gator Faithful were hoping he would be a bit more efficient. The Road doesn't get any easier next week against the best overall defense in the SEC in the Georgia Bulldogs. Not only are they the best rushing defense, they rank right up there with Florida as one of the best passing defense in the SEC. But Neal's 172 yards and 5 yard rush for a TD was enough to secure the win, so we can be a lot more forgiving this week, especially with the way the defense played. Far more impressive was the Florida Gator rushing attack, which for the third time this season reached over 200 yards as a team. Neal, Bowman and Haynes all combined for 287 rushing yards and 3 Touchdowns. Bowman, who lead the way this week, racked up 228 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns, as well as 16 receiving yards off 5 competitions. The former starting back for the Gators, Sam Haynes, rushed for 54 yards off 6 attempts(9YPA). As you can imagine, the receiving game was pretty pedestrian with no one outside of Michael Burawa doing much of anything to note. 8 completions off 11 targets for 111 yards, he has continued to show defenses he is the big dog in this receiving corp. Defensively, the Gators were outstanding. A+. Allowing only 141 total yards, even with the three interceptions given up, the Gamecocks only scored on one possession in the second quarter. The Gators defense managed to sack Kemoko Allard 3 times, tackle the ball carrier 8 times behind the line, and managed a season low of allowing only 67 yards rushing(18 total attempts). The defense also allowed only 74 yards passing(16 of 27 attempts). The Gators also looked good on special teams, they went 3 for 3 on FGs, and only had to punt twice, with one of those going inside the 20. What is... So. RB Ryan Bowman 6 Games, 144 Attempts for 583 Yards, 7 Touchdowns, 36 completions on 43 targets for 233 yards. The Gators have had an up and down season. After starting the season 1-5, they have been on a bit of a roll lately, going 3-1. The one loss unfortunately was a rough an embarrassing loss for the Gators who were starting to feel good about themselves. But perhaps it was the loss the team needed to keep the focus till the end of the season. The one player who might have faced the most criticism so far this season has got to be Morgan Neal. Forename Surname Position Year Games Completions Pass Att Pass % Pass Yards Pass Tds Ints YPC YPG QBR Long Pass Sacks Morgan Neal QB Sr 10 233 383 60.8% 2040 7 8 8.76 204.00 111.61 51 11 His completion percentage took a hit after the game against South Carolina. But either way, his numbers this season have not been great. The offense as a whole has not been great scoring, and you have to wonder if he is the reason for that. 7 TDs through 10 games is embarrassing for a Senior QB. Even though the Offense as a whole has been in a much better place the last four games, it has to be noted the team is also facing the better defenses of the SEC. Tenn has some of the best overall defense in the conference, SCAR and Vandy both have a top five pass defense, Tenn and UK both with a top five rushing defense. It should be noted UGA coming up is top 2 in all those categories mentioned. But that could explain why, despite the vast improvement of the offense in the last few weeks, why we aren't seeing Neal put up bigger numbers. Gators Currently rank 11th in passing. After the loss to Mizzu, the coaching staff went ahead and made a change at the starting running back. Senior Sam Haynes who had been up and down, was finally booted to second string. Ryan Bowman, the sophomore back was given his shot to prove himself. While there was a slight uptick against LSU, the team had to abandon the run after the 4th quarter collapse. It would be the following two weeks which would make the change permanent as Bowman lead the way rushing against #21 UK and on the road against Vandy. But Bowmans ability to run the ball wasn't the only thing that made him useful, it was his ability to run and catch the ball out of the backfield. He became a weapon through the air game as well. The Gators currently rank 6th in Rushing amongst their fellow SEC schools. Michael Burawa, the senior WR1 has been far and away the best receiver on the team, but even he didn't come on till a few weeks ago. From the look of things, florida won't have a thousand yard receiver this season unless Burawa blows up the last 2 games. The one good thing about the Neal is he has found a way to spread the ball around. Getting as many people involved as possible. Ryan Bowman, as much as his rushing attack has been a breath of fresh air for the offense, his pass catching abilities have really helped the passing game. 233 yards in 6 games, he has become the fourth leading receiver on the team, as well as the leader in all purpose yards. If there is anything that can be said about this group, it is that they need to help their QB get into the endzone. The total offense on the year thus far, is 2040 pass yards, and 1375 rushing yards(3415 total offense). They've scored 167 points, and 16.7 PPG. In the 4 wins on the season, the defense kept the opponent to less than 10 points. In the 6 losses, they allowed the opponent to score 28 points or more. The unit has allowed 1690 pass yards in ten games, and 2128 rushing yards. They've given up 232 points or 23.2 PPG. Our first and biggest defensive star is Keenan Williams. Leads the team in tackles with 64 tackles, 7 assisted tackles, and 17.5 tackles for loss. He has by far been the most aggressive defender and could be a player on Sunday. Captain of the defense, he has been a steady force for the rest of the unit. DT David Kingery, leads the team with 4 sacks, and is second in TFL with 5.5. a strong force up the middle, he has really been one of the few bright spots when it has come to stopping the run alongside Keenan Williams. The defense as a whole has not been good at forcing fumbles and Nick Gamboa with 2 is a prime example of that. Leading the team with 2, it should be noted he was not the Day 1 starter. He moved to play opposite of Swoope(who leads the team in FR, 2) a few weeks into the season as the coaching staff struggled to find an answer in the run defense. Trayvon Johnson, the best corner and perhaps the best player in the secondary leads the team with 3 interceptions. A Look Ahead... It is Florida's turn to host the hated rival Georgia in Jacksonville Florida. The Gators manage a win last season and look to keep that streak going against a potentially dangerous Georgia team. While it is Coach Weeze's first season with the Gators, it is not his first time seeing Georgia. Last season as the coach of Arkansas Razorbacks, he squeaked out a small 17-16 win over the then winless bulldogs. The Razorbacks needed that win last season as it broke a string of losses that saw the team at 1-5. Sound Familiar? Going to 2-5 the Razorbacks began to turn it around and went down to the end almost managing to make a bowl game and finish the season 5-7. Again sound familiar Gator fans? Coach Weeze is familiar with the Bulldogs and know just how dangerous this defense is. "I remember all to well how good that defense is and it has only gotten better. Last week we saw the potential that is the Georgia Bulldogs as they bullied the Volunteers. A team that wrecked us pretty good. So I can assure you not a single person on my staff, or those young men on the field expect this game to be a pushover. They are for sure better than their record and they need this win as badly as we do." Coach Weeze said to local media ahead of the game on Saturday. Georgia sits at 4-5 and just over Florida in the SEC East rankings. This is the final SEC game for both teams so a win for Florida at least could see the Gators end was the season above Georgia for whatever that is worth. But as the coach said, they are for sure better than their record indicates and could easily still see a bowl game with a loss to Florida. UGA is third in points allowed, but first in total yards allowed, second in Pass yards allowed, and second in Rushing yards allowed. But more than that, they are very discipline on both sides of the ball. Only Auburn has fewer penalties than the Bulldogs. Coach Sarge is for sure building a very scary team who could be doing some serious damage in the seasons to come. If they can figure out their offense. Last week, we saw an explosive Georgia offense. That alone is enough to make these Florida Coaches nervous. They have not been great consistently keeping opponents off the board. We've already establish that the UGA defense is tough, but to play a tough defense as well as battling an offense that is able to score at will? Gator fans are already praying last week was a fluke. Despite their 34-19 win over the favorites to win the East, UGA has the second worst scoring offense in the SEC with 104 points. A significant stat to watch as the Gators have the 5th worst scoring defense in the SEC. Compared to the Gators at 6th total offense, the Bulldogs are ranked 8th in total yards. Again, important to watch as the Gators ranked 10th in yards allowed. Will Outman has had a rough season, completing 53% of his passes, and a 12:10 touchdown-interception ratio. But his 2354 passing yards sees Georgia ranked 6th in the SEC. This could be the stat that wins Florida the game. If their top rank passing defense can find away to force turnovers, and keep Outman off the board, it could allow their own offense enough time to score. UGA does not have a strong rushing game, but Florida has only manage to stop the run twice this season. Lets hope this balances out to meh at best. This could be a really good game if both teams play up to their potential. Florida and Georgia both have similar stats in a lot of areas, seem to cancel each other out in others, its everything you could want in a rivalry game. Both teams need the win with Florida on the verge of missing out on a bowl game, UGA not far behind. Both are trying to find a way to encourage recruits to join this program and this could be a big statement win for either team why recruits should join them. Both teams are trying to show the rest of the SEC they have turned a corner and ready to take the next step next season. Saturday can not get here fast enough for either of these teams.
  20. This was good stuff. Rivalry and jokes aside, i enjoyed that and gave me ideas that i would like to do myself probably next season.
