Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Press Conference
kwheele replied to kwheele's topic in News Articles, Columns, and Media
Well, as you can all see we are very average at things and overall lack consistency. Those are the two biggest hurdles we have to overcome. Luckily, we have a couple of returning players in Amos Quinn and Ian McCall kind of chomping at the bit to take ownership of this team. They are kind of like that young black lab on the first day of pheasant season - just pulling at the leash to get started. Our out of conference schedule this year is intentionally tough in order to get our team ready for conference play. Away games at UMBC, Utah State, Miami, and Kansas is tough as it gets. Then you add in Butler, Georgetown, and Tulane at home. You would think we should be committed into an insane asylum or something. One thing this out of conference play will do is reveal who are real quick. -
Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Press Conference Sponsored by Fox47 and WMTV Badgers Men’s Basketball Coach Kwheele heads to the podium. Thank you for attending this press conference on our Badger Men’s Basketball team. Going to be straight and not hold back any folks. We are a work in progress - actually we are more of a bless-your-heart candidate, but our players and staff will work hard to put the best team on the court each night. Having seen what happened last season, we are going to focus heavily on player fundamentals, learning how to communicate with each other more effectively, learning and executing the systems, and being competitive. Overall, we do have some talent on this year’s team and look forward to seeing how they adapt to the new systems we have going in place. Unfortunately, talent is a double-edged sword. It’s like seeing your mother-in-law driving off of a cliff in a brand-new Cadillac. You have mixed feelings about it. From our initial off-season meetings and practices, we have been able to see some of what this team is capable of and will need work on. There are some aspects that are really good and then there are other aspects where we look like we just stepped off Snoop Dogg’s tour bus. We aren’t going to surprise most people. We are going to focus on building a focused cohesive team that out works the other team. We will be slowing things down and being a lot like a woodpecker in a petrified forest - keep busy working hard and looking for opportunities to stay competitive and win games. Overall though, we have a very tough schedule ahead of us and will be a lot of growth opportunities as we work towards winning the Big 10 West Division and look to get into post-season play - whether it is NCAA Tourney or the local Elk’s Lodge Spring League Championships. Extra games are extra games at this point. The goal this season is to not be the kid playing second French Horn in the school band. We are looking to be better. Once again, thank you for coming out and we look forward to seeing the students and fans in the stands as we take on the Big 10 and shoot for the post-season. Any questions?

Wishlist for NewSim Season 3
kwheele replied to subsequent's topic in Suggestions, Feedback and Testing
For game planning purposes it would be helpful to have in the PBP the offensive formation to include subset (PRO 3 wide, PRO 2 TE, PRO I form) and defensive formations to include subsets (3-4, 3-3, or Dime) added. This would allow players at all levels to have a better understanding of how their inputs in the interface/spreadsheet effect outcomes in the game better, thus allowing for better game planning through more precise data. -
Great content. Thank you for doing this.

Wishlist for NewSim Season 3

Would like to see a down and distance added to offensive and defensive playcalling in the future. Have the distance be user adjusted and give the coach the ability to dictate (by percentage or something) which offensive or defensive formation to use. -

Titans Passing Game Inconsistent In Overtime Loss to Jags NASHVILLE — The host Jacksonville Jaguars, the favorite to represent the AFC in the inaugural SimFBA Super Bowl, outlasted the Tennessee Titans in a 34-27 overtime thriller. Spearheaded by the potent rushing attack led by veteran running back John Knighten’s 23 carries for 210 yards and one touchdown, the Titans offense could not close the deal against the Jaguars. The passing game of the Titans was very inconsistent with Tennessee quarterback Chad Williams throwing for a respectable 21-34-228 yards - 2 TDs, but also threw 2 interceptions stalling the Titans offense at key moments during the game. “We don’t know what we don’t know,” quarterback Chad Willaims said of the team’s inconsistent passing attack.. “Tomorrow will get to addressing these issues and will focus on getting the ball more in the hands of (RB) Knighten and (TE) Randy Wright,” Willaims said. Jacksonville Jaguars Steven Connolly had a spectacular night going 28-42-374 yards and 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. Tennessee Titans will travel to New Orleans to take on the high-flying Saints offense, while the Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Tennesse Titans Offensive Player of the Game: John Knighten, RB Tennesse Titans Defensive Player of the Game: Richard Decker, SS Tennesse Titans Special Teams Player of the Game: David Sandoval, K
