  1. Minnesota Vikings 2022 Draft Class Round 1 Pick 7 - WR Alex Williams III, Wisconsin 121 Receptions, 2567 Yards, 19 TD 4.39 40 (Combine) 39.23" Vertical (Combine) 130 Broadjump (Combine) 35 Wonderlic 4.35 40 (Pro Day) 40.74" Vert (Pro Day) 131 Broadjump (Pro Day) The Vikings made a major splash, adding to one of the already electric offenses of the League with the extremely talented Alex Williams III. Minnesota traded their 2nd, 4th, and a conditional pick next year, along with their 1st rounder this year, to Seattle to move up to the 7th overall selection for Williams, who led the nation in receiving yards. Local pundits are reporting they were also interested in ILB Jehu Ginn and QB Yusei Asencio, but with Ginn selected a few picks earlier, the team decided to back FA-signee QB Christian Sinnock, as the Vikings give him every opportunity to succeed. Williams will be able to see action immediately in the Vikings game plan, but with Mathew Madden and Paul Gurule as veteran pass catchers, he won't have to be the top target or face the best defensive backs for some time. Round 3 Pick 25 (89th overall) - RB Cooper McGough, Virginia 2962 Yards, 6.16 avg, 20 TD 78 Receptions, 628 Yards, 6 TD 4.44 40 (Combine) 39.51" Vertical (Combine) 6.65 3-Cone (Combine) 30 Wonderlic 4.36 40 (Pro Day) 39.82" Vert (Pro Day) 6.67 3-Cone (Pro Day) The Vikings continued to add to their nightmarish offensive depth with one of the most prolific runners from the college game. Like Williams, McGough led the nation (in rushing yards) in 2021, but his dual-threat ability makes him more than just a change of pace back to spell veteran RB Bruno Hanson. Expect McGough to get looks in space - when the team needs a receiving option out of the backfield, or perhaps even as a threat in the return game with his dynamic athleticism. Round 5 Pick 25 (153rd overall) - CB Morgan Johnson, Coastal Carolina 36 tackles, 2PD, 1 INT 4.56 40 (Pro Day) 36.42" Vertical (Pro Day) 7.73 Zone Coverage Drill (Pro Day) I have no idea who this guy is, he wasn't on my draft board. Someone is welcome to trade for him ? Round 6 Pick 8 (168th overall) - DE Mitch Rivers, Texas A&M 44 tackles, 3 Assists, 23 TFL, 4.0 sacks Rivers did not have a Pro Day, nor was he invited to the combine, but that didn't negate interest from the Vikings. Those with inside access to the Vikings say Rivers was much higher on their board than 168th, and his ability to disrupt just past the line of scrimmage gives the team hope he might one day be a solid starter at left end, playing line of scrimmage control against opposing RTs. Round 7 Pick 25 (217th overall) - SS Anthony Ahmed, Louisiana-Monroe 52 tackles, 5 assists, 3 TFL, 2 INT Another player I know nothing about. Do not miss the draft if at all possible. Decent Zone coverage drill ratings. Round 8 Pick 8 (232nd overall) - CB Nick Beltre, Arkansas 20 tackles, 1 INT Ditto Johnson & Ahmed Public Service Announcement Do not miss the draft.

  9. I don't know how we're going to do the Transfer Portal but after slotting some of the guys from my class into a projected DC for next year, I was wondering if there will be a away for us to voluntarily submit players to the portal as well - not instead of players deciding to enter maybe against their coaches wishes, but in addition to. I have a few upper classmen who I don't know will get significant if any playing time and want to do right by them instead of wasting them on my bench. Maybe it could be a "hey you're probably not starting here, take a look for opportunity elsewhere and if you don't fine it, you can finish out here" thing.
  10. Best news about this for KU is despite a disappointing season with no bowl, we were a young team that doesn't lose much. Offense: (returning 2022 players italicized) QB Ian Morgan SR (11 2021 starts) QB Jeff Maeda JR (1 2021 start) RB Bene' Humber JR FB Marcell Maysonett SO WR Junior Ogbah SR (29-506-5) WR Adam Williams JR WR Tomas Nelson JR TE Alex Atkins SO LT Gary Albers SR LG Jose Moustakas SO C Morgan Doyle SR RG Danny Syndergaard SR RT Rashad Shaw JR So offensively, we're replacing our QB who was mediocre, 3 starting linemen, and a solid WR who could stretch the field. Ogbah, Albers, and Syndergaard should be drafted, Morgan could maaaaaybe be a camp arm, and Doyle should find a real career. So to see Bene' bb make 1st team is really exciting because he's not even supposed to be the focal point of the offense for 2022. We're injecting a wealth of redshirts into our offense - (FR) 4-star QB Tyler Summers is the presumed heir to Morgan at QB, (SO) 4-star RB Cody Casspi was supposed to take over for Humber but now there might be a camp battle/nice options to spell each other, (SR) 3-star WR Trenton Adam should be the most refined guy we have in the WR room, (FR) 3-star WR Tanner Bradley should push for the WR3 role from Tomas Nelson, (FR) 3-star OT Austin Smith has the potential to be a 4-year starter on the blind side, and (JR) 3-star C Pete Blythe coming in at center and could have started over Blythe this year if I'd thought we had potential to make a run. Defense: (returning 2022 players italicized) LE Eli Reyes FR (4.0 sacks, 5 TFL) NT Dante Gates SO (3.0 sacks, 5 TFL) DT Daniel Dekker SR (4.0 sacks, 8 TFL) RE Marvin Machado SR (4.0 sacks, 8 TFL) LOLB Aaron Freeman SO (23 tackles, 1 INT) MLB Ezekiel Sands JR (54 tackles, 7 TFL, 2 INT) ROLB Nelson Velasquez SR (58 tackles, 10 TFL) CB Chasen Joseph SR (2 INT) CB Chaz Tuivailala FR (7 INT) CB Tim Keller SO (existed) FS Shawn Johnson SR (65 tackles, 3 INT) SS Lashard Jones JR (49 tackles) Defensively losing half of our DL is going to hurt, but the other half showing so much potential while so young has me hype. We have 4 different options to plug in at RE, including guys who will be a 4-star SR, 4-star JR, 3-star (JR), and 3-star (FR). Tuivailala has potential to set long-standing records given he was a true freshman starter earning All-Conference honors, very excited to see what he accomplishes and maybe he'll dip after year 3. Losing a 1st-Team LB and 2nd-Team DB will be hard to overcome, but we're bringing back a (FR) 3-star CB and (FR) 3-star OLB. Specialists: (returning 2022 players italicized) K George Jones FR (14/29 FG) P Randy Bates SR (52 inside 20 on 93 punts) KR Chasen Joseph SR (337 KR Yards) PR Aaron Diaz SO (12.66 PR Avg) Special Teams might be getting entirely shaken up for the Jayhawks, with George Jones struggling as the year went on. Aaron Diaz showed he has athleticism to potentially compete for the QB job after tallying a fair PR avg - Oklahoma State and Baylor got guys to get 13.3+ and 13.0+ averages, so Diaz wasn't too far off despite not being a favorite for the position. Time will tell what happens at any of these 4 spots - there's no in-house favorite to punt, KU reeled in a top 5 of the class kicker in recruiting, and with added talent at RB, WR, and DB from both the redshirt and recruiting pools, its anyones game at KR and PR.

  12. While the Jayhawks struggled early in the year, this week's game against Oklahoma may have just been a glimpse into them hitting their stride. QB Ian Morgan has taken full command of the KU offense, and he tore the Sooner secondary apart, going 75% on his passes and carving them up at 10.72 yards per throw, with 3 TDs. Perhaps more impressively, though, was the sudden arrival of the Jayhawk running game. Bene' Humber has been a big name player to the Kansas faithful, but he's had issues getting beyond the first level of the defense, often having to drag defenders as he clips for barely 3 or 4 yards per attempt. This week though, he scampered for 6.57 yards per rush, and he attributed it to a new pregame routine. "I was in high school when Kendrick dropped DAMN. Used to listen to that before every game in high school, and for some reason, I stopped doing that in college. Then DNA came on my earbuds right when we were leaving the locker room this week, and I was back in my high school days and ready to go." The Kansas defense also came to play, shutting down Sugar Ray Cobb, who hit 129 yards but at just 3.79 yards/att. Oklahoma QB David Paul managed just 56 yards through the air on 24 attempts, and it was a dismal day for the future SEC squad.

  14. #24 Minnesota (2-1) at #4 Purdue (5-0) could be huge. Minnesota has already shown they can knock off a highly rated opponent.
  15. My strategy for KU was 1. Missouri. Shouldn’t need explanation, they should be Kansas’ biggest rival. 2. game against team in KU recruiting hotbed (Midwest/Texas) which both Houston and Ball State fall into 3. Game against coach I’m familiar with. Again, both Mahrow and Klemm fall into this with Houston and Ball State. I wouldn’t shy away from playing the Florida States or Cals of the world (and almost did play Cal if I wasn’t going to play Ball State), but for me the games have to make sense for Kansas, especially in priorities 2+3. I think I’d love to maybe play a Big Ten team annually or maybe like the more central PAC and MWC teams. Tulsa might be one I’d seek out since I’ve noticed them on a lot of croots on my board ? or like Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, the schools in Illinois, etc. but hard to slot all of those in when I only have 2 games to fit them in besides the Missouri rivalry.
  16. In the opening week of Kansas football, the Jayhawks struggled to find their identity, with placekicker George Jones cementing himself as the fan favorite. A week later, with a change at the signal calling positing, the KU team went on the road to Muncie, Indiana and picked up their first W in program history. Wide receiver Junior Ogbah was highlighted nationally prior to the kickoff of the season, making the coveted Preseason All-American list as a 2nd-Teamer, but the Jayhawks struggled to get him involved in their Lawrence opener against Houston, with the senior receiver notching just one catch for four yards off of two targets. It seemed like he'd probably fade into obscurity in a Kansas offense that didn't have an identity. With quarterback Jeff Maeda benched following a rough outing, there was even some discussion of Ogbah losing even more relevance with the potential turn to a ground focused offense that could be captained by sophomore dual-threat Aaron Diaz, though that was settled with the observation during the media-facing practice sessions that featured Diaz only in the role he'd played against Houston - primary punt returner. When the opening whistle blew, there was still much question as to who would be slinging the rock around, but there was little surprise to see the team make the official switch from Maeda to senior QB Ian Morgan, who trotted out to take the games first snaps. On just his third pass attempt, Morgan became a KU household name with a 44-yard strike to tight end Alex Atkins, and the very next play found Ogbah for their first touchdown connection. With Ball State's insistence on getting RB Anthony Larkin involved in as many ways as possible, Kansas keyed on him, and linebacker Ezekiel "Ziggy" Sands set the team up with another red zone possession off of an interception of a pass intended for Larkin. George Jones booted a field goal through to put KU up 10 early. With Ball State scoring quickly to knot the game at 10, Morgan struck quickly to Ogbah again with 13- and 7-yard passes that found the end zone, with KU leading 24-17 at the half. And that's when the Kansas offense stagnated. The defense had put the offense into position to put up quick points in the first half, but during the second half, the boys in blue didn't draw anything of a Morgan-Ogbah connection up, with Ogbah seeing 0 2nd-half targets despite the 3 first half touchdowns. "We held on in the end, we had a new face under center and there were some growing pains, but when we get our offense clicking, we can put up points with the best of them," Kansas head coach Bundy said post game. "Ian stepped in admirably, and we need to find more ways as a coaching staff to get him and Ogbah involved." Kansas headed into the week 3 Open Date bye with light practice ahead of their week 4 Big 12 Conference opener at Iowa State. During the Kansas trip to Indiana, they piqued the interest of 4-star Indiana RB recruit Trey Garcia. The Chirp ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big Play Trey @WithoutATreys I would look good in a blue jersey next year ? #KU #UK @Bundy @rabidsnowman KUntry Boy Dean @TimMcGrawIndeanOutlaw George Jones could kick a dozen puppies, my grandma, and then myself in the groin, and I'd still think he's the most consistent kicker in the #Big12 Jayhawk Coed in ur Area @IPhogOnTheFirstDate @IanMorg9n more like #3anMorgan my future baby daddy has 3 first half touchdown passes so I'm sending him videos with Britney Spears 3. Accepted a holding penalty on a 3rd down stop. - should have declined it (4th + 7 is more favorable than 3rd down repeat) - instead of the penalty moving the placement on the field (from the 24 to the 14), it kept the line of scrimmage the same but made it 3rd + 10 instead of 3rd + 16.
