  1. Denver will not contest Mike Burpee and wishes him the best of luck in Wisconsin.
  2. Amazing Ryan Johnson is still in the top 5 after taking Week 2 off and sending Peyton Hillis to fill in.
  3. Broncos Announce New Arrivals Today Denver announced today an agreement in principle for arrival of several new members of their Bronco family. With so many moving pieces it's hard to keep track of everything, but clearly the ownership felt it was time to make a move, and reached out around the league to see if there was interest in some assets - they liked what they saw from Carolina. The GM of the Broncos, alexfall862 made several statements earlier today: "OG David McNeal joins us from Carolina and will help lead our offensive line in clear the way for our stable of great backs. OG Mark Stern comes to the team after playing for the Panthers. With several starts under his belt, I'm sure we have a lot to look forward to! OT Craig Parrish arrived today after working in Charlotte for the last couple of years and we know he's going to do a great job protecting the QB. Big-play WR Rondald Spencer arrives to the team after playing ball in the NFC South, and will see playing time immediately and help open up the field for Peter London. DE Chad Bruce will likely play a different role on the line than he did playing for his previous team in the Bank of America stadium, but he's certainly going to be a difference maker. SS Vicente Bugarin is nearing the end of his career, but after moving through a couple of teams, he'll likely play more snaps for us than he did for teams on the south eastern coast. CB William Owens is the final addition to our team and we love the pairing with Bugarin and think it will really round out our secondary. Ah yes, also we wish a fond farewell to our 2023 and 2024 first round picks. I'm sure you will be great players, but not here." The GM of the Broncos declined to comment further*, but this roster shakeup happens just hours after a late night tweetstorm from the new Broncos leadership. Shortly after this tweet, we heard from several stunned GMs round the league that a trade had just been submitted to the league office involving the now departed 5th overall pick and rookie QB Dekoda Link. The GM even took the chance to get into it with fans online, a move not unusual for the fiery executive. It's yet to be seen how this trade will affect the race for the playoffs, we're only 2 weeks in, but has a new favorite emerged to give Jacksonville a run for it's money? Will the Jaguars respond by also trading their rookie QB? We're looking forward to next week's debut of a new Bronco's lineup, but time will tell if the group will be able to mesh before the playoffs. It's not typical for teams to add so many players in key positions in the middle of the season, and tinkering with gameplans with 'live rounds' instead of in the preseason may end up costing the Broncos important wins while they figure out how to put the pieces together. *EDITORS NOTE: After the initial publishing of this article, the GM of the Broncos did respond to our inquiry with a written statement saying only "A team is only as good as it's weakest Link."
  4. Is there any possibility that all this rivalry talk with @Suffocation (no breathing?) will lead to an upset in week 11?
  5. I still think folks are sleeping on the Raiders. They've got a good QB and some dudes at WR.

  7. Breaking news out of Denver just now. Sources are confirming that 5th overall pick Dekoda Link is going to get his first start at home for the Broncos this week against the Seahawks. Peter London completing 90% of his passes last week evidently wasn't enough of what the Broncos were looking for from the position, as they turn to their young signal caller from Oregon State. We caught up briefly with the new QB after Saturday walk-through, where coaches made the announcement. "I'm just really excited to be able to see game action, and hope I can give the coaches and my teammates even more reasons to have faith in me as the leader of the offense. All the credit in the world goes to Pete, who's been such a great mentor for me since I've joined the team. Also, Seattle's a bunch of punk ass bitches. You can print that." When reached for comment, QB Peter London declined to give a quote, but communicated to us his disappointment with not starting and voiced again his frustration in the Bronco's seeming inability to commit to either QB long-term. GM alexfall862 held an impromptu press conference after practice: "Hi everyone, as you know we've been really excited about both Pete and Dekoda for a long time. What coaches are telling me they've seen in practice makes me so excited for Dekoda, and you've all seen the good work Pete's been putting on the field. However, we can't compare apples to oranges and we need to get film on Dekoda in real snaps, but last week would have been a pretty tough defense to start a career against, nerves and all. There's no softer landing than those granola eating yuppies from out west. I heard they had to book a special coach bus to take them from the airport because our buses weren't vegan. We'll if that's true, they're gonna have really bad time tomorrow because our defense isn't cruelty-free. It's cruelty-always™."
  8. I think Nebraska should get extra B1G credit for managing to score double digits without scoring an offensive touchdown.

  10. Great write-up! How nervous are you about replacing an entirely senior offensive line?
  11. Hey, there's still plenty of season left, you never know!
  12. After Ryan Johnson's first game, there almost certainly is gonna be a 1st round fb again this year.
  13. My money's on LV surprising people. Most of the offense is rough, but they have a great passing battery and solid line play on defense. I think Cincinnati and Houston's defenses are extremely suspect because not only is the average lower, I think they're one of the few teams without at least 1 above average player at each level of the defense between dline, lbers, and secondary. Also looks like Arizona v LA should be a crazy divison race with the other two teams looking like contenders for top picks.
  14. The Broncos will not promote Netzel and the Titans can have him.
  15. Ah yes, that's how you know it's the beginning of a new football season.
  16. With the season kicking off this week, it's time to take a look at Nebraska and see if there's any hope for the forlorn school in year 2 of the sim! Year in Review Offense A pretty lackluster performance between the trio of Mitchell Weatherly, Francis Guerrero, and Luis Hill left the Nebraska passing offense starting in fits and starts. Only 1 QB had a positive TD:INT rate. Rushing was in a better bit of shape, with Ariel Pryor notching 1000 yards, though similarly to the passing offense, there was little to celebrate with only 6 rushing touchdowns to the season. As far as playmakers on the field, Nebraska trotted out an almost entirely senior crew with Chuma Valentine and Eric Watkins account for 1278 of Nebraska's 2104 passing yards. TE Antonio Scott led the big men with 262 yards receiving, showing some potential to make Defense Run defense was probably the most respectable part of the team keeping opponents at just north of 130 yards and 3.3 tackles behind the line per game. The pass defense was almost as anemic as the offense failing it's way to giving up 300 yards a game. The defense steadied as the season ran on, and did end the season with a string of sub 20 points games, but by that point, there was no recovering from the early season issues, and the Huskers let opponents tally over 24 points per game. Special Teams One of the few bright spots for team, Jaydon Looney hit nearly 2/3rds of his punts inside the 20. Serves to reason it was due to so many reps as he kicked nearly 8 per game. Kicking was more along the lines of the rest of the team than his battery-mate, making 13/27 field goals. Overall A woeful performance led to a 2-10 record. Last in the division, having lost the head to head against Iowa. The goal for this upcoming season needs to be showing just about any signs of life. Between just about the worst non-AI pass defense in the country and a comically anemic passing offense, there was really little for the Cornhuskers to hang their hat on. Led by a pair of electric playmakers in 5 star WRs Ro'Derrick Billings and Justin St. Fleur, Nebraska looks to have a ton of new players joining and earning early playing time - which is not surprising given a 2-10 season. However, word in camp has it that no one in the QB room has really impressed, and we'll likely see Francis Guerrero win by default as a senior with game experience. RB: Du'Vonta Almonte returns as the leading rusher, looking to fill the relatively big shoes of the first 1k rusher in school history, but word in camp is that coaches are looking to get Richaun Alsadek and speedster Tyus Edelman on the field as much as possible - and that may come from the RB position. Given that we don't expect to see tremendous growth from the passing offense, how this position goes, the offense goes. One to watch in Week 1. WR: With essentially every receiver 'worth' playing leaving the team this season (apologies to Orion Guy), we're likely to see a completely new line-up. With open auditions for the 2 starting spots and the slot receiver role, forecasting who is going to start will be like pinning jello to the wall. Expect to see the exciting new freshman 5 star recruits get a chance to earn snaps right away. From reporter's stories, Ro'Derrick Billings has shown out both in practice and in several of the secret inter-squad scrimmages between local programs. As mentioned above, Tyus Edelman is likely to see the field in some fashion no matter what, and receiver is his natural position. DE: With an unfortunate paperwork issue keeping Chris Niklas off the field, the role starring in the pass rush opposite Steven Hall is completely open. Connor Cozart, Luis Ridley and Tim Zimmerman all have redeeming qualities and are looking to really push hard for the starting role as Nebraska is not known to rotate linemen during the game often. CB: A roomba with broom taped on top could have done better than the Husker pass defense last year, so we're looking at a low bar to clear for the new players to earn snaps. One such player is Danny Henderson. Though he came into camp a lot slower than tape led coaches to believe, he's shown a tremendous knack for reading receivers and has locked down almost every match-up in camp. That said, the Nebraska receiving corpse corps doesn't inspire much confidence as a point of comparison. S: Just as with the CB position, there isn't much that could go worse in 2022, but one place to look for optimism is at the safety position, where two underclassmen are pushing for playing time. Sophomores FS Ryan Scott and SS Ian Kelly have picked up the playbook far faster than coaches anticipated and both look to get some looks early in the season both as a reward for their hard work in the film room, and to see how they play in game situations. Rumor in camp is that CB Chris Wilson is also alternating reps with both secondary position groups as he preps to play a more versatile role this year. 2022 Depth Chart PositionPlayerOverallYearQB1 Francis Guerrero A Sr QB2 Gleyber Hinojosa B Jr QB3 Bryce Tocci C Sr Position Player Overall Year RB1Du'Vonta AlmonteBSrRB2Richaun AlsadekBSoRB3Jesus MachadoBSr PositionPlayerOverallYearFB1Sam WardBFrFB2Isaiah RobinsonCJr PositionPlayerOverallYearWR1Orion GuyBSrWR2Ro'Derrick BillingsBFrWR3Patrick HernandezBFrWR4Jalen EscobarBJrWR5Brett SendejoBJr PositionPlayerOverallYearTE1Antonio ScottBSrTE2Kyle BashamBJrTE3Josh GoodCFr PositionPlayerOverallYearLT1Chris DiazAJrLG1Hunter FamiliaAJrC1Alex CallahanBSrRG1Enyel BoxbergerASrRT1Robert BellBSoLT2Wes HoskinsBSrLG2Patrick NoonanBSrC2Yu GobertCJrRG2DJ AcostaB(Fr)RT2Brennan AreCSr PositionPlayerOverallYearLE1Steven HallASrRE1Connor CozartBSoLE2Luis RidleyBJrRE2Tim ZimmermanBJr PositionPlayerOverallYearDT1Daric Martin-OguikeBSrDT2Tre ColeBJrDT3Wyatt SuttonCSr PositionPlayerOverallYearLOLB1Glenn RodriguezBJrROLB1Francis OhmanBSrLOLB2Bruce FeeneyC(Fr)ROLB2Courtney MikellCFr PositionPlayerOverallYearILB1Josh RodriguezBSrILB2Keenan CruzBJrILB3Cory JohnsonCSoILB4Jalen SchwartzCFr PositionPlayerOverallYearCB1Elijah GuerrieriBJrCB2Jaryd SterlingBSrCB3Chris WilsonBSrCB4Danny HendersonBFrCB5Reese KanoffBSo PositionPlayerOverallYearFS1Ryan ScottBSoSS1Hercules MillsBSrFS2Tyler CumptonCSrSS2Tress RobinsonBJr PositionPlayerOverallYearKSylvester ConleyBSrPDonnie GentryBSrKRTyus EdlemanBSoPRRichard AlsadekBSo Scheme Offense: On offense, Nebraska showed a willingness to change things up last season, with Scott Tobin appearing as an H Back at times, as well as seeing some option elements work their way into some games. Ultimately, that culminated in the team not really being able to find an identity offensively, but early signs from camp don't inspire much confidence that the Big Red have found exactly what they're looking for. Defense: The Huskers showed signs of life at times, particularly in run defense. Like on offense, expect the team to play multiple alignments through the season. Unlike offense, the defense can do so as a strength, as the potential front seven pairings look to be at least league average. If the backend can hold up through early contests, we could see more exotic blitz packages start appearing, as there have been some interesting looks teased in practice. None of that will matter if the team can't keep from blowing assignments and leaving players wide open. Schedule The schedule next season and per @tsweezy's rankings stacks up with a little home for Nebraska - as just per 'talent', they'll be looking at a potential bowl bid and even a conference championship if everything breaks right as 2 of the hardest conference games are from East opponents, clearing the way for an advantageous tiebreaker situation head to head with West division teams if the schedule goes chalk. With the Husker's uncertainty in scheme and lack of confidence in their signal calling options, it seems like expectations are being tempered for a big bounce-back season - according to those in the know around the program. Coaches are telling their players the key to this season is to win their conference, but privately are telling boosters that they'll take a 6-6 season as a sign that they have a solid foundation to really take off in 2023.

  18. With preseason wrapping up and the regular season next week, roster limits will lead to dozens of players per team receiving their walking papers, or getting sent down to practice squad. The Broncos got ahead of Bloody Wednesday with their roster cut downs and preempted the news cycle with some Tuesday news. Among the posted cuts, several surprises on the defensive side of the ball. Long-time veterans DT Robert King, DE David Bracy, and CB Roberto Cabrera won't be part of the team anymore, and three draft selections didn't make the active roster in CBs Danilo Shakir and Rob Guthrie. "I've poured my heart and soul out to this team, and while sad, I look forward to dominating retirement the same way I dominated on the field." posted the long-time defensive campaign Robert King on his twitter. 21. First of all, big thank you to @TuscanSota for making this fever dream become a reality. It's all your fault. Also, big thanks to @kgreen829 for your help in writing the outline for this story and for the poster. We believe that despite this being a crime against humanity, it would only be right to award us the final create-a-croot as a team. Finally, I'd like to say: I'm sorry. Blindsided By Love Greenlit at Hallmark Big news out of Hollywood today as news broke on Deadline.com that KGreen829 and alexfall862 have been attached to the Matt Howard vehicle “Blindsided by Love”. The producers, Kgreen829 and alexfall862 join the project after their work on similar sports-themed movies Fumbling Hearts, Receiving It, Receiving It Too: Over the Shoulder, Receiving It 3: Too Fast Too Curious, and The Football Diaries: A Matt Howard Story. Posting on their social today, Hallmark announced the project with a press release that previewed the film thusly: A leaked draft of the movie’s script broke online shortly after the news: Clearly this movie is positioning itself as a chance for Matt Howard to win the hearts of local Jacksonvillians before seeing the field. One wonders whether the writers of the movie can break out of their favorite genre and reach more than wine moms stuck at home while the kids are at soccer practice. The film is set to be a lighthearted romcom in the vein of basically any Billy Crystal flick, but it's yet to be seen whether FSU star and Jaguars' rookie Matt Howard has the kind of acting range to deliver in this role. The producers had this to say about the project: alexfall862 - KGreen829 - In what can only be described as a lustful montage crossed with Saving Private Ryan, the two main characters fall in love over the course of several practices as their football aggression turns into a salacious series of dogpiles in which Mitch and Tobey start staying in the pile just a little too long for the viewers comfort. That’s not my opinion as a writer, it literally says that in the script. We were able to obtain a partially redacted copy safe for public consumption. As the story develops, we're told that Matt Howard is supposed to show off his dramatic chops, but given the portion of the script we obtained that appears to be from this scene, the jury is still out on what has more range: his projected draft spot or his acting. When reached for comment about the project, Matt Howard added: As the story continues, the DE and QB continue to find each other in sack-induced dogpiles, treating the scrum as their respite from the prying eyes of their teammates and community members. Rumors have it that the Hallmark initially passed on the project, with concerns about "the cocaine budget" and Matt Howard's insistence that he do all of his own stunts, including a parachute-less free dive off the coast of Japan that executives termed "needless" and "not entirely relevant to the plot, wait hang on there's no plot anyway." Early casting rumors outside of Matt Howard being confirmed as the lead are as below: Mitch Grissom - Matt Howard Mr. Grissom - Jim Howard (Matt Howard's irl father.
